She finished eating her breakfast and put the dishes into the dishwasher.
It was a year since Stephen Strange had brought her into his house. The man was still looking for her parents, but Emily had already lost her hope. Her mum didn't want her anymore. She was sad about this but was happy that she had a place to live. The doctor treated her very well. He made food for her and bought clothes. He let Emily sleep in his room until her own room was ready. The bookshop downstairs was a very nice place too. Emily could read and she liked to spend hours there, reading.
Right now, she didn't have any idea what to do and walked downstairs. But the doctor wasn't there like she had expected. It was Saturday but Stephen usually tidied up the store on weekends or corrected the order of the books.
Where he might be?
Emily decided to wait. Maybe the doctor was in the bathroom or something.
But after five minutes, she was still alone. She wasn't scared. The doctor would never leave her alone. Or would he? She immediately threw that stupid thought out of her head and started looking for Stephen.
,, Mister Strange?" She walked around the store, stopped and listened. Nothing.
Emily walked upstairs and through all rooms, even the bedroom she wasn't actually allowed to go to.
,, Where are you?"
Then she heard a noise.
Then silence.
Emily focused on the sound and tried to understand where did it came from. She walked back downstairs and stood quietly in the middle of the store.
Another sound.
Emily walked closer to the bookshelf and listened carefully. Could it be possible that the noise came from behind that?
She shook her head. No.
But to be sure, she pushed the shelf lightly and it moved. Then she pulled it and it moved again. There had to something behind that.
She heard that noise again, louder this time. From behind that shelf. Emily touched the books, knowing that there had to be a button or something that opened the door. But nothing happened. There were books above her too but she couldn't reach them.
A quick thought and she was back there again, this time with a chair. She climbed up and touched all the books again. Nothing.
Then, she noticed a book above her. It was the only book in that one shelf. And it seemed to be a little bit different from the others. Emily somehow knew that it was the button she had looked for. But sadly, she couldn't reach to that. No matter how much she tried, she was still too short. Even when she was on the tiptoes, a few inches were missing.
Another sound.
What to do, what to do?
She looked around the shop. Then, an idea came into her mind. She took a random book, raised on the tiptoes and hit the book with the random book.
Click.
The shelf started moving and pushed over the chair with Emily. She landed on the floor, pain shooting through her hands. The chair fell barely next to her. But Emily didn't care. She turned around quickly and saw a secret gear behind the shelf. She put the chair back and looked down to see something or the end of the gear, but she didn't. It was very dark in there too. Emily started walking downstairs slowly, sliding her hands along the walls. Those were damp and it was kinda hard to breathe in there. Emily could barely see where did she stepped but hoped that she didn't fall.
Then, she saw a small light and started walking faster. Soon, the light became bigger and then, she had reached a hall. There were lights on the hall walls and more air to breathe. Emily started walking slowly along it. She saw a room in front of her. It was small and there were a table, a chair and few shelves with papers and very old books.
A scintillation from right made Emily turn her head. A door next to the shelves was open and Emily saw yellow and green scintillations come from there.
Slowly, she walked to the door and pushed it open.
The room she saw in front of her was very big and the doctor was there...fighting?
Emily couldn't believe her eyes. The doctor sent yellow and green balls to the man who appeared everywhere in the room. There was a yellow circle with different symbols in front of his first. He used that a few times and Emily liked it a lot. After the men got hit, they disappeared. It was all so fast. Then, a yellow thing what looked like a whip appeared in the doctor's hands. He waved around his head with it for a few times and the threw it towards one man behind him that Emily didn't saw there before. It was so, so quick. One man with a bow shot an arrow towards the doctor and Emily was about to shout when the doctor stopped the arrow with his hand and crushed it. A few shots and throws towards enemies and then it was all over. He wore some kind of a costume too.
Stephen enchanted a green ball into his hands and Emily saw that a necklace hanging from his neck started to shine. Strange closed his eyes and Emily felt a gentle breeze. What was it?
,, Mr. Strange, what are you doing?"
He winced lightly and turned around to see her standing on the door and watching him, eyes widened.
,, I'm just..." He sighed.
,, Can everyone do that?"
,, No." He looked at the girl's green eyes and said, ,, Come here. I'll show you."Yay! I hope you liked it and thank you for reading and voting!
What is going to happen next? Write some ideas, I'd really like to hear them!
