chapter eight

Emily created two circles and was ready to fly on the ship but was stopped by someone's hand. She turned around and saw Iron Man.

,,Emily, don't." He said, shaking his head lightly.

,,But Mantis-"

,,No." Tony interrupted her. ,,That's exactly what he wants. Believe me, it's a trap."

Emily looked at him and then at the ship and then back at Tony.

,,But I have at least try. I can't let Mantis die."

Tony removed his hand slowly and Emily started flying.

,,No!" She heard someone shouting. It was Stephen. ,,Emily, no!"

Then some other sounds, grunting and then someone said, ,,Remember Strange, alone."

Emily could feel Stephen's worrying and want to go with her but she knew that it was too dangerous. Stephen had the Time Stone too but he had hidden it before. But still, Emily wouldn't let him go. She wanted it to be her. So she could redeem herself somehow or do something useful for everyone.

Finally, she landed on the ship and immediately created a whip, ready to fight with someone or something.

But the only thing to welcome her was the silence.

She walked slowly towards one small gear and kept eyes-ears open.

Then the gear ended and Emily found herself in a big room full of different pipes and electric wires. It was the engine room.

But she didn't saw Mantis or Thanos nowhere.

Suddenly she heard a sound.

Emily turned around quickly but didn't saw anyone.

Then, a deep laugh surprised her from left.

It was Thanos.

,,I'm glad to see that your friends mean so much to you." He said with a smile.

Emily was scared but tried to not to show it.

,,Where is Mantis?" She asked and raised the whip, her hand shaking lightly.

,,The but girl? Safe." Thanos laughed. ,,For now." He stepped closer to her and Emily stepped back. ,,But, let's don't waste time." He stretched his big purple hand out and Emily knew he was expecting her to give him the Time Stone.

She didn't want to give him that. And also, doing that meant that she broke the promise what she had given to Stephen earlier.

Don't let your feelings take the control. She reminded herself.

And Mantis wasn't here too. How could she know that it wasn't a trick?

She saw that Thanos was losing the patience.

Think, think, think...

,,Mantis isn't here...so how can I know that this isn't a trick?"

Thanos raised the eyebrows. ,,Don't trust me?"

,,Why I should?" Emily snapped. Thanos only smirked and yelled,

,,Bring the prisoner here!"

Emily was holding her breath and waiting nervously for something to happen.

Then three figures came to the room. Two of them were those filthy creatures again and the third one was-

,,Mantis!" Emily yelled, relieved that she was alive.

,,Emily?" Mantis said questioningly but Emily saw that she was happy to see her.

,,Now-" Thanos started. ,,when you know that she's alive, you can give me the Time Stone easily, do you?" And he stretched his hand out again, asking for the stone.
