I walked down the sidewalk, avoiding people, making sure I wouldn't bump into them. I breathed a cold sigh, forming a small, misty cloud. It was Winter in Colorado, and it was colder then usual. I looked over to my right to see several mountains covered with snow. I gently closed my eyes and moved my head in the direction where I was walking. I kept walking until I reached my destination.
I opened the door and a warm breeze welcomed me in. A waft of coffee moved it's way towards my nose as I closed the door behind me. I went into the Employee's room and took off my Lilac colored scarf, along with my black jacket. I move the hair out of my face as I put on the uniform. Large letters within a logo were engraved in the fabric, it read "Starbucks Coffee".
I sighed once again as I walked towards a small whiteboard, which showed the worker's schedule for the month. I took a black whiteboard marker and marked my shift for the day. I set down the marker and worked my way towards the front counter. "Your shift should be over, Jane." I said as I touched her shoulder. "Oh okay, thanks!" She smiled at me and walked away.
I groaned as I sat there, leaning against the counter. I wanted to just get this done and over with, and go home and look forward to playing the piano. But that won't happen until at least two hours from now. I continued thinking about certain things and just started making weird movements with my hands.
After a couple more minutes, I heard a ring from a bell, signaling someone has come inside the shop. I straightened my posture and put on a fake smile. I looked towards the door to see a young boy, around my age, walk up to the counter.
"Two Ham And Cheddar Breakfast Sandwiches, please". He said looking towards me. "No problem." I said typing into the cash register, and asking for the money. I sat there a few seconds until the order reached into the back, where employees were making the food and drinks.
"How was your day today?" I asked him, starting up a conversation. "Good. Me and my band were just getting ready to preform another song." He said looking around. "That's cool. What instrument do you play?" I asked, looking at the tattoos on his right arm. "Bass." He says smiling.
It looks like he really enjoys playing the Bass. "That's awesome. I play the Piano for fun." I said smiling back, thinking about the Piano once again. He sat and stared at me for a few seconds. "Oh, that's cool too." He says. "Hey, me and the other members of my band were looking for someone else to join our band, would you like to join?" He asked.
"Um I would have to think it over." I said looking into his brown eyes. "Uh, hold on." He said as he dug through his pockets. He then pulled out a stack of sticky notes and a pen. He quickly wrote a few things on the sticky note and handed the paper over to me.
"Here's my phone number. You can contact me anytime you want." He said looking at me. "Uh, thanks." I smiled weakly. After a few seconds the food was brought out to the counter. "I gotta go, see you later." He said walking towards the door. "Bye." I called out to him.
I sat and stared at the sticky note that was now in my hand. I just talked to a random stranger and he already gave me his phone number. I'm not going to call him at all. I wouldn't talk to someone who just randomly came up and gave me their number. That's just plain creepy. But then again, I would actually like to join a band.
