Should the old dog teach the new dog
how to pinpoint a cat's purr
or should the old dog serve the new dog
cooked game on a platter
Should Old Dog teach New Dog
how he can survive
or should New Dog know Old Dog
will keep him alive
What happens when Old Dog
must venture off to school
and then New Dog is left
to mop up Mom's drool
What then, when at my school
New Dog suddenly arrives
all choked up and sobbing cause
no one yet taught her to drive
to the hospital one day when
Mom's blood vessel shattered
or when she drooled herself silly
but more so the latter
