High school AU. Again.

Magnus-
I was really excited for this years art show. Every year, our school gathered pieces of art from students in the art classes, and put it all in one big show. Everyone, grades 1-12, could put something in the show, but seniors got a special section. And, ours were put into a contest. Whoever's piece got the most pieces of macaroni in a little pot (everyone got a noodle at the door) won. Each year, the prize changed a bit. Last year, the prize was a set of good paints. The year before that, it was a coupon to a nice art store. No one knew what the prize was until someone one. I was hoping to win. I entered a photo I took of a tree with light shining through it. As I walked through the doors and got my noodle, I decided not to put my noodle in my own bucket. As I browsed through the art pieces, some of them caught my eye. A photo of a someone, caught in the snow. A painting of a butterfly with one wing tucked, one wing sprawled carelessly across the canvas. And the last was my personal favorite. A clay pot, with a two headed snake, a head on each end of the snake, tangling around the pot. The pot was a deep blue color, and the snakes were an emerald green. The pot itself was simple, but if you looked closely, you could see intricate swirls painted in a slightly darker blue than the base of the pot. There snake's scales were also detailed in a slightly darker green. The snake itself was so lifelike, I half expected it to start moving, and blinking it's scary yellow eyes. It was beautiful. Normally, I wouldn't pay any attention to pottery at all. It just wasn't an art form that interested me. But there was something about that pot that drew me to it. I didn't know who made it, they didn't put names next to pieces, so this contest wouldn't turn into one of popularity. I dropped my noodle in the little bucket next to the snake pot without a second thought. Of course I wanted to win, but I was also sort of hoping that this person would win, so I could know who made it. I walked off to see some of the other things.

I was trying to decide between if I should go get a cookie from the cafeteria, or see how many noodles were in my bucket (and everyone else) when someone ran into me. Literally. One second I'm standing there, the next I'm on the floor with a mop of green and black hair sprawled across my chest. Said person pushed off my chest and stood up, offering me a hand. They were freaking cute. Freckles dotted across their nose, and a bob of green hair, with black roots. I took their hand, and pushed myself off the floor. "Watch where you're going next time..." The person smirked at me. "Alex." I smiled. "Alex. Watch where you're going next time, Alex." Alex nodded back at me, and sauntered off. I stared after them. Wonder what piece they did.

Alex-
The intercom blared with an annoying screech. "All seniors to the cafeteria. We will be announcing this years winner of our senior art contest." The intercom shut off with a blast of interference. The school seriously needed to get that fixed, unless they wanted all the students going insane. I rolled my eyes and walked down to the cafeteria, hoping to get a good seat. Lucky for me, I was in the wing closest to the cafeteria, and was able to snag a seat somewhere in the middle. Hell ya! A few seconds later, everyone else started walking in. I closed my eyes and leaned my head back. I didn't care about whether I won or not, but I was scared that I had gotten no votes. The chair next to me groaned as someone lowered themselves into it. Of course the school had used cheap plastic chairs. I opened one eye lazily to see who had dared to disturb my peaceful worrying. That kid from earlier. Had he told me told me his name? I don't think he did. He looked over and gave me a cute smile. Dammit, I felt myself blushing. I hate getting crushes on people. He held out his hand. "I don't think I told you my name. I'm Magnus." I smirked back, shaking his hand. If I did like him, I wasn't letting him know that. He nodded his head toward the table that was up near the front, with a couple of trophies on them. "Think you're gonna win anything?" I shrugged. "Who knows? It's up to the people, and people can either be nice or cruel. Or fair." He laughed. Damn, his laugh was adorable. It was more a snort that faded into a chuckle. He nodded. "That makes sense. What did you enter?" I gave him an teasing grin. "You won't know unless I win, cuz I'm not saying." He shrugged. "Worth a shot, wasn't it?" The principle walked up to the front of the room. He tapped the microphone to try and get our attention. "Attention, attention? It's time to announce the winners of this years senior art contest!" Everyone quieted up. The air was practically filled with the scent of anxiety and hope. I sat up a bit. This could be interesting. I saw Magnus tense up as they opened the envelope that held the name of the winning piece and the name of the creator. Corny, I know. Magnus must really want to win this thing. "And the winner of this years senior art contest is Alex Fierro." I looked around. Apparently, there was another Alex Fierro here. That's odd. No one stood up though. "Alex Fierro? Is Alex Fierro here?" I stood up and stumbled up to the stage. 'Don't let anyone see you fear', I thought to myself. I smirked at the audience. Once I reached the stage and shook the principles hand, he started his congratulatory speech. "Alex Fierro is a senior here, and has been doing or basic art program for 8 years and the pottery program for 4. Alex created the Two Heads Are Better Than One pot." He handed me the little bag with my prize in it. I walked back to my seat. Magnus poked my shoulder as soon as I sat down. "Congratulations, Alex! What's the prize?" I shrugged, and opened the envelope that was in the bag. "A coupon for that small Italian restaurant 5 minutes down the road." The principal tapped the microphone again (every second of silence was filled with teenage chatter). "Guys? I need to announce the second and third places. Second place, by only one noodle, is Magnus Chase." I jumped and lightly poked his shoulder to get his attention. He jumped up. He went up to accept his small plastic trophy from the principal. He bounced back to his seat. I smirked and lightly bumped his shoulder with mine. "Congrats, Maggie." He pouted. "Don't call me Maggie." I smiled. "Ok, this coupon I got is more than enough for just me. Wanna come with me after this for a meal?" He blinked. "Like, as a date?" I blushed. I hadn't thought about it that way. I shrugged. "Up to you, Mags." His face was a bright red. "Sure. And don't call me Mags." I smiled and put my arm around his shoulders. He put his head on my shoulder, and we continued to watch the art show.

AN-
Hey all! Sorry it's been forever (I say that way too much in author notes).

Please comment if there's a ship I've been neglecting that you want to see a one shot of.

Well, good night/morning/whenever. Bye all!
