"What are we gonna do?" Wayne gripped the armrests tightly, as if his life depended on it.
Around four hundred, if not more, zombies were strewn about the highway they were rapidly approaching.
"This looks like a video game," Ezekiel murmured. He folded his arms over his chest, and tilted his head to get a better view.
His curly red hair fell in his face slightly."Yeah.. We're dead." Joelle's expression was completely blank, showing no emotion.
Johnny whimpered quietly, and hid behind Kate on the dusty couch.
"Nah, miss psycho-bitch will get us through alive." Sam chuckled.
"Her crazy ass will just run 'em all over.""Stop swearing! There's a kid!" Leslie shouted, feeling flustered.
"Make me." Sam replied. His lips curved into a devilish smirk, and he raised both eyebrows.
"Wayne. You drive." Leslie growled.
"Just try to avoid the zombies."Wayne managed to switch places with Leslie, without them crashing.
Man, she's gonna kill me.
Sam thought to himself."Sam," Leslie grabbed the shotgun. She pointed it directly at his face, and he drew back.
"Stop being annoying... Or I'll put a fucking bullet in your skull!""Hey, you just swore after you told me not to." Sam smiled cockily.
Damn, she's hot when she's mad... Sam thought. Shit, I'm gonna get hard again, if she keeps this up."I want to murder you so bad, right now." Was Leslie's reply.
"Aw," Sam poked out his bottom lip.
"In front of poor little Johnny?.. That would probably traumatize him more..."Thud!
"Sorry," Wayne mumbled. He had unintentionally hit one of the zombies.
Leslie sighed, and turned her head to look at Johnny.
"Johnny, don't look. So I can kill him.""Keep looking at me." Sam mouthed, and Johnny seemed pretty confused.
"Woah!" Wayne shrieked, he stepped on the breaks abruptly, and Leslie went toppling over.
She accidentally pulled the shotgun's trigger. A bullet just narrowly missed Sam's head, and hit the wall next to him.
"Holy shit!" Sam gasped. "You almost killed me!"
"What happened?" Leslie asked, getting up off the floor. She ignored Sam, and walked to the cab.
"There's a kid!"
A little girl, no older than a year old, was wandering down the street. She was appeared to be crying heavily.
"Holy-" Leslie immediately sprung out the passenger side door, and ran towards the toddler.
She scooped up the young child, when the nearby zombies had spotted Leslie.
She sprinted back to the rv, and hopped in the passenger seat.
"Go go go!" She urged.Wayne jolted the vehicle forward, and they took off.
It appeared that the little girl had been purposefully covered in blood and guts. She had tears streaming down her blood-caked cheeks.
"Poor girl," Leslie sighed, examining the child.
She wore a blood stained dress, and pink tennis shoes. She also had a necklace around her neck, it had a name on it.
Mia.
"Is this your name.... Mia?" Leslie asked softly, trying to calm the child.
"You were all alone?""Maybe they covered her in rotter blood... To disguise her." Joelle suggested.
"Who? Her parents?" Kate mumbled. Her hand was settled on her swollen, pregnant belly.
"Maybe." Leslie released a sigh.
~~~~~~~~~~
"Shit shit shit!" Wayne exclaimed, slamming his hands down on the wheel.
"What?" Leslie murmured sleepily, she had fallen asleep. Her head was slumped against the seat. She had momentarily escaped the apocalypse in her dreams.
"We're out of gas."
"Seriously?!"
"Yep..."
"Good job, dipshit." Ezekiel sneered.
"It's not nightfall yet... We could go try an' find shelter." Wayne shrugged, looking at the sun. It was on it's way to bed.
"Let's hurry, then." Sam said.
"I don't wanna be a zombie-snack.""Agreed." Leslie murmured.
The group set off down the road.
"I don't feel good," Silas started coughing. His bite wound was blackening, and oozing a brown liquid.
He walked slower than anyone else.
"I... I'm r-really hungry." He said, his tone strained.The others ignored him, which wasn't a good idea.
"Ow! What the-" Kate yelped. Silas had sunk his teeth into her hand.
Leslie prepared to swing her baseball bat, she hit him directly in the head. A sickening crunching sound punctuated the air.
Silas fell to the ground. Dead.
Mia, who was being carried by Joelle, burst into tears. Johnny did too.
Kate stared in horror, at her bite wound.
"N-no... No!.. I'm gonna die. And so is my baby!" She started sobbing as well."Damn," Sam ran his tongue over his teeth. "Maybe you'll be okay?.. Or not... Probably not.."
"Just shut up, Sam." Leslie sighed. She turned her attention to the teary-eyed Kate.
"Kate, don't cry, we'll figure something out.""I'm scared." Kate whispered roughly, tears meandered down her flushed cheeks.
"We gotta get movin'," said Wayne. "The sun's gonna set soon."
A few hours later.... The survivors approached a mall.
"Look!" Sam exclaimed. Pointing to the building's doors.
"I just saw a person go inside! Maybe them folks can help us?.... Hey!" He shouted at the top of his lungs.
"Y'all, we need some help over here!"A man and a woman, cautiously approached them from the mall doors.
The man was on the short side, probably about five feet, seven inches tall. He looked around thirty.
He had short, brown spiked hair, and soft green eyes. He wore worn out leather boots, black jeans, and a grey hoodie.The woman was older, probably in her fifties, Streaks of grey decorated her black hair. Her outfit consisted of; purple running shoes, a light pink and black jacket, and tight jeans.
"Are any of you bit?" The woman asked. Her tone was cold, and stern.
"No." Leslie lied.
"Come in then," the man spoke up. "We were just about to barricade the doors, we already got the windows boarded up. We're building a little community in there, there's probably sixty people in there now." His voice was much friendlier than his companion's.
"Let's go." The woman muttered, almost angrily.
As the group was lead to the mall, the man spoke up again.
"Oh, by the way, my name is Keith. This is Cynthia.""Nice to meet you, I'm Leslie."
"And my name's Wayne."
"Sam I am!"
The others introduced themselves as well, and they were led inside the building.
They were all forced to strip naked, and be inspected for bites.... Kate's bite wound was soon discovered....
