The Rainforest seemed to never end. It stretched out on all sides, touching the horizon, connecting to the sky. I studied the two dragonets closely for the first time.
Vine was still flashing pink and yellow through her scales. I noticed that she is very small. Maybe only two years old. Even if she is that young, she will still be small for her age. The ends of her horns curled up like the tip of her tail, which is a bit unusual. But, despite her small size, her tail was long. She is about a third the size on me, but her tail is half the length of mine. The tail looks quite fragile, and stood out against the other RainWings battling in the forest below. But she is still a full RainWing, I can tell.
Leopard is different. Her horns are nearly straight, only slightly curving at the ends. Her scales only changed into different shades of light green, blue and cyan. The spines on her back are a brilliant shade of green, like newly grown leaves. They start out pointed, like an IceWing, but then start to flatten out as they reach the tail. She wore a sapphire around her neck, attached to a thin string of, what seems like, woven vines. A silver snake with ruby eyes, diamond fangs and studded emeralds on the sides twisted around her right forearm. I also noticed a gold earring on her right ear.
But strangest of all was her eyes. They were a deep shade of sky blue, darker at the top. They seem playful, and a flash of energy was always in her gaze. A sort of invisible power ran through them, making them even more mysterious. A voice appeared at the back of my mind…. She is the one who is power.
I cleared away away my thoughts as I changed my inquisitive shade of blue and purple to a deep red mixed with scarlet and black dots, not showing them my thoughts. I bared my fangs at them, giving the silent message of Back off! Don't stand in my way! Frostynight and the others seem to be sort of panicking as Vine and Leopard looked at me with frightened eyes.
“Berry, not again! Do we have to do something whenever you meet a new dragon?” Frosty nudged me backwards. I whipped around, hissing.
“What do you expect? That I go up to them nicely and ask ‘Can you two please go back to the Rainforest’?”
“Umm, no. And that isn’t very nice, you know. Maybe we have to give you some how-to-be-nice classes once we are back at Jade Mountain.”
The dragonets giggled again. I guess we are just making them even more amused. I glared at them. Then I noticed something. A strange throbbing was in my head the whole entire time after I met them. The moment I started to notice it, words formed in my head.
These dragonets are special.
I waited, but there was no more. These dragonets are special? What is that supposed to mean?
Then I realised it. We have to take them along with us! A stab of annoyance pierced through me, like a blob of venom. Out of every dragonet there is in the Rainforest, why these two?
