Played for Fools

Hope is the only thing stronger than fear. May the odds be ever in your favor! I'm afraid we've both been played for fools. My own words swirled around me, consuming my thoughts. I awoke with a sharp jerk. I waited for my thoughts to come back to me. No, that wasn't a nightmare. Much less, a simple-minded dream. I thought we'd agreed to never lie to each other. That retched Katniss. I should have gotten rid of that filthy Twelve while I had the chance. I rolled over on the chile sized bed I was in, just to realize that there was no space to move, as all I was met with was air as I fell out of the 'child-sized' bed. Though, I wasn't even sure a child could fit into it. I muttered under my breath, but I was interrupted by my host, Miracules Charles, bursting into the room.
"Coriolanus! Are you ok-" he exclaimed with great haste.
"Good Lord Charles!" I said with clear annoyance in my tone as I quickly stood up, my face reddening with surprising embarrassment. "And what have I told you about my name?!" my voice getting naturally harsher.
"Oh, right... I'm sorry Mr. Snow," he mumbles. I decide to ignore the fact that he called me Mr. Snow, rather than President Snow, because after all, he has done a lot for me, and the title isn't mine anymore. Soon, I reassure myself with. Soon you will regain your rightful place in this world.
"Remember next time," I state with finality, challenging him to disagree.
"Yes, Mr. Snow," and as if he read my mind, he quietly left the room. I inhaled deeply. I thought we'd agreed to never lie to each other. I smiled ruefully to myself. I almost laughed out loud. How naive and mislead and yet, hardly innocent Katniss was. She acted like she knew so much, yet she understood so little. How easy it was to tell her lies.

"But there was no reason for me to destroy a pen full of capitol children," I coughed out.  "I must concede it was a masterful move on Coin's part."  I stared into her harsh gray eyes as she stated,  "I don't believe you."
"Oh my dear Miss Everdeen, I thought we'd agreed to never lie to each other." I rasped.

Then, as they banished me from my home, my comfort, my power.

I stared at Coin as she led me to my future, with Katniss standing by her side.
"Coriolanus Snow, you have hearby been striped of your title as president, and you are exiled from the capitol, and any of the districts for life. If you're spotted within five miles of the boundaries, you will be killed on the spot."

I looked to my right at the pitiful excuse of a bed that held my only way in. "Come here, my dear." I cooed, which must have sounded sickly to anyone else. It was then, that Primrose Everdeen opened her eyes. Oh dear Katniss, I thought. I'm afraid we've both been played for fools.
