There she stood, with her trademark poker face. Three years and not even a single change. She has got the good looks of her brother. With that jet black hair, cat eyes, she reminded me of him more than anything else. That was the reason to keep her away.
God knows, how I had the will power to stay away from her. But I did and now I am going to face the consequences.
Just a small request God. Don't let me get killed in her hands. I have lot more to do in this world.
I was about to rush forward and hug her, but her words stopped me dead in my tracks.
"I didn't know you valued your money more than us. More than me. I was hoping that you wouldn't come. That you wouldn't give more importance to your company. But how wrong was I.", she said with pain written all over her face.
"Amaya, are you mad? Obviously I value you guys more..."
"Oh really, then where were you all these years? Where were you when I needed you the most? Where were you when I was lying on the hospital bed, barely breathing? Oh wait, you didn't even know that, did you? Let me tell you. You were hiding. You were running away from everyone and everything. Why? Because of Dhruv. You think we didn't love him? We did. He was my fucking brother. I was broken, I needed you, but you disappeared on me. You were just selfish in the end. You didn't care about what we were all going through, seeing you like that. In the end I lost both my brother and my best friend. ", she sobbed and ran inside.
"Amaya, listen." I shouted going behind her.
"No it's better if you stay here. I will go get her.", Rishi said leaving.
Who is this guy?!! I am starting to hate him.
"You know...", Sebastian started but I interrupted him
"Why was she in hospital?"
"That is not our story to tell.", he said with sudden anger.
"Then ask her to come here and complete her story.", I shouted so that even she can hear.
I was met with silence.
"She is right. I was selfish. I didn't think of anyone. I have been a horrible friend." I whispered and collapsed on the sofa.
Veronica came forward and took my hands in hers.
"You know that she didn't mean any of it. This is just her way of showing how much she missed you. No one knows her better than you. You should try to understand her.", she said in a soft voice.
"And you alone know how to get her back.", Sebastian said with a smirk.
Of course, I do. After all, she is my best friend from childhood. Or maybe I should say was. Our families were really close from even before we were born. The bond only grew stronger after our birth, with me being best friends with Amaya and Dhruv. Amaya is like a soul sister to me. She always had my back and fought for my happiness.
"You realise that today is going to be your death day, right?", Dhruv asks me while driving me back from university.
"You told her? How could you be so stupid Dhruv? Now what am I going to do?", I panicked
"Baby, whole university was talking about it. She was bound to know.", he rolled his eyes at me.
"When I die, I am going to take you to hell along with me.", I said getting down from the car.
"What the hell is wrong with you? What made you think that you can be a hero and save this world from all the evil things? You shouldn't have done this to that ass hole. He is the YOU-KNOW-WHO kind of person. Evil and vicious. ", Amaya started yelling at me.
