Next day morning, I stood in front of the mirror, getting ready for office. If I have to, I would describe myself as a good looking 26 year old and by saying this I am not being an egotist. I have long locks of brown hair, toned skin. At 5.8, I am taller than an average girl. More importantly, I have good curves at right places. I have had a handful of boys behind me during my university days. But, of course, they never had a chance with Dhruv beside me. Giving myself a last look in the mirror, I headed down.
Sebastian, Veronica and Rishi were seated at dining table involved in an animated discussion.
"Good morning guys, something interesting going on here?", I asked sitting down for breakfast and serving myself some pancakes.
"If you consider listening to your own shenanigans as interesting, then sure.", Sebastian said with smirk.
"Oh, so today I am the breakfast topic.", I frowned taking a bite.
"You are quite an adventurous person from what I hear.", Rishi said with surprise written all over his face.
"Were", I corrected him
"Nah, old habits die hard. I am sure my drama queen will soon be back.", Amaya said entering the kitchen
She looked worn out and tired, with bags under her eyes.
"Another nightmare?", Rishi asked with concern.
She didn't reply.
"Maybe you should visit a shrink. I will fix an appointment with one of my colleagues.", he squeezed her hand. She gave him a bored look.
"As much as I hate to agree with him, he is right. You should visit one as soon as possible.", I said sternly.
"Ah, the Hitler tendencies. Anyway, what are you doing in this attire?", she asked nodding towards my dress.
"If I am going to spend my days here, I might as well make a routine out of it.", I sighed.
"You are staying?", they asked in unison. Veronica and Amaya were bouncing in joy.
"I am contemplating it. Don't get ahead of yourselves.", I said with an eye roll.
"That is enough. We will do the rest.", Sebastian said with jubiliance.
"We will see about it.", I said leaving the house.
"I will join you later.", Amaya shouted.
I got out of the car in front of the office. SD industries. It sure is going to be weird working here after all this time.
As I stepped inside, I was met with the sight of my manager, Mr Peter Andrews and few of my old friends waiting in the lobby.
"Well well well, if it isn't Ms. Sameera Verma.", the friend from finance department whistled.
"Well well well, if it all wasn't a plan.", I hit back.
He laughed, his cheeks turning red.
"Guilty as charged, but we are glad to have you back."
"Same here", I said politely.
"I will brief you about the current state of the company in a while, after you settle down ma'am.", Peter said walking me to the private elevator.
"Sure, I will meet you upstairs.", I took the files from him
I entered the elevator and pressed the button for 20th floor. I was going through the files. There was a sudden shake in the elevator and then it became normal. It must be a technical fault. I took the intercom off its cradle to talk to the technician. Then all of a sudden the elevator started shaking violently. I immediately called the reception.
