Chapter 7

“Maybe we should get out of the water.” I said to change the subject. “Yeah, it’s nearly 9PM.” When we were back on the beach, I took off my surfer suit. I was wearing my bikini underneath it so it didn’t matter, and took on my short and t-shirt I had taken with me. Luke’s clothes were still lying at my place. Luke’s face though. “You should close your mouth before a fly enters.” I grinned. “Erm.. Sorry.” He stuttered. He looked kinda embarrassed. What is this. He was staring at me? What is going on here?

 “Charlie! You’re finally home!” Fynn shouted when we got in. “Yeah I am. Why?” “He didn’t wanna go to bed before you were home. You need to go with him.” Mum said. She looked kinda desperate. I know my little brother can be stubborn as hell. “Fine. I’ll put you in bed, in the meantime, Luke can get changed.” “Is he your boyfriend?” Fynn asked as innocent as he was. Luke and my mum burst out laughing because of it. “FYNN! No he isn’t. He’s just a friend.” “Ow. Okay.”  

 Luke was just changed when I came out of Fynn’s room. “He’s a funny guy, your little brother.” “Yeah, that’s Fynn.” I laughed. We both got downstairs. My parents were watching some TV. “Goodbye mister and miss Sierra.” Luke said. “Bye Luke.” “Well, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow at school?” “Yeah, indeed. Ow, one more thing before I forget. Ashton and I are organising our birthday party. It’s in 3 weeks, on Saturday. It would be amazing if you would come, you know. But, there is a condition. You’re gonna have to wear a dress.” Luke grinned. “Are you for real? I have no dresses in my closet. Like, for real, zero dresses. I don’t wear that.” “You’re gonna have to.” He winked. “Luke…” “You’ll look great in it, Charlie. I just know that. Perfect timing to go shopping.” He winked. “I hate shopping.” I mumbled but he didn’t hear it. His brother has arrived in the meantime to pick him up. “See you tomorrow, Charlie.” “Bye Luke.”

 “He’s a nice guy.” My mum said the moment I was inside. “He’s okay.”  “He’s cute.” “MUM!” I shouted. “What? He’s good-looking. If I would be younger,…” “MUM PLEASE! I don’t wanna hear things like that.” I shouted and ran upstairs to my room. The next day, we had science again. “Hey Charlotte.” Ashton smiled when he sat next to me. He’s being nice to me. Wow. “Hey Ashton.” I smiled awkwardly. “How are things going with you and Luke? He can’t stop talking about you, you know.” “Ow really?” “Yeah. He might like you.” “No, he doesn’t. We’re just friends. That’s it.”

 Ashton and I had to shut up a few minutes later. The evil look on Mrs Hamlett’s face said enough. She could kill us for talking during her class. “ARI!” I shouted to Arianna after class. “Hey there Charlie.” “I need your advice. God, this is embarrassing. Luke invited me to his birthday party but he’s forcing me to wear a dress. So… I need to go shopping.” “YES! FINALLY! I can give you a total make-over! Yes, I’ve been waiting for so long to do that.” Arianna smiled. She was like so energetic at the moment. “Urgh. I don’t want to.” “It will be fun! And by the way, Ashton invited me as well. So, I need some new clothes too. How about on Saturday? Or do you have other plans?” “No, not that I know.” “Then we are going shopping!”
