The day went by so slow. We only had boring things today, except for art class. “Wanna come over to my place?” Arianna asked. “I can’t. Need to go pick up my little brother.” “Ow, sure. I’ll see you tomorrow.” She smiled and left. Fynn was only 9 years old and since my parents were working until 6PM, I needed to go pick him up at school. “Heya sis.” He smiled. “Heya little one.” “Can I use your skateboard, sis?” “If you promise me you’re gonna be careful.” “Always.” He laughed. I really wanted to go surfing tonight but I had to stay with Fynn. Too bad. But I’ll do it another time.

The next day was the day I had to go over to Luke’s place. The truth is, I really didn’t wanna go. He only lived a few streets away but still. It wasn’t Luke who opened the door but someone else. I think his brother. “Hi. I’m Charlotte. I’m here for Luke?” “Ow yeah. Come on in.” He said and opened the door further. “LUKE! GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE. THERE’S A GIRL HERE FOR YA.” He shouted. “I’m coming!” I heard Luke shouting. He ran down the stairs a few seconds later. “Hi Charlotte.” “Hello.” “You came.” He smiled. “I didn’t really have a choice, did I?” “Ow, and that one over there is my brother Ben for the record.” Luke said.

I followed him upstairs to his room. “Please, don’t look at the mess.” He said. There were books and clothes lying all over the room. “Right… How exactly are we gonna do this?” “Use Wikipedia?” He asked, took his computer on his lap and jumped on his bed. I honestly didn’t know what to do. “You can sit down as well, you know.” He laughed. We worked on the project for the entire time. However, we didn’t get it finished.

“I think we did enough for today.” Luke said and closed his computer. “Yeah, maybe I should go now.” “You don’t have to leave already.” “I don’t know. This is weird.” “Why? I think you’re a pretty awesome girl.” “Thanks.. I guess.” I took a look around his room. It was quiet big actually. I noticed the guitar standing in the corner of the room. “You’re into music?” I asked surprised. “Yeah. I am. Erm… I play the guitar and I try to write songs as well but I think they suck.” “Let me hear. Now you’ve made me very curious.”

“Fine… It’s called Wherever You Are.” He smiled and grabbed his guitar. “Torn in two and I know I shouldn't tell you but I just can't stop thinking of you. Wherever you are. You… Wherever you are. Every night I almost call you just to say it always will be you. Wherever you are.” He sang. Not too loud. It was like he was ashamed of it. It was actually pretty good. “I’m impressed. It was good. But let me guess, you use this every time to impress a girl, don’t you?” “I don’t. No one knows about this. I haven’t told anyone about it. I just keep it to myself. You’re the first one who has ever heard me sing. Except for my brothers maybe.”

“Anyway, I should go now. I promised my parents I would be home before 7 so I should really go now.” “Yeah sure. We should meet-up another time. The project isn’t finished yet.” “Yeah. We’ll see okay. See you at school, Luke.” “Bye Charlie.” He smiled. He just called me Charlie. Only my best friends call me like that…
