Tuesday Morning
"Good Morning, Miss-" Sebastian cut himself short with a gasp. "Miss- Miss Rachel, what are you wearing? Those are not your normal attire?"
I grabbed a plate of waffles, that was in front of him before taking a seat at the bar. I glanced down at my outfit, before meeting his gaze.
Sebastian had a look of shock and amazement as he walked to the other side of the counter to get a look at me.
"Miss Rachel, I mean this in the nicest way possible," he tells me glancing at me before looking at the clothes again. "You look so much better in this attire"
"Uh thanks," I say with a confused look as I let out a soft chuckle.
"But may I ask why?"
"Remember my friend, Ryan?" he shook his head. "Well we made a bet and long story short, I have to be spontaneous, but not really, just being more so like her and doing the opposite of what I'd normally wear while she has to be girly"
"And how is wearing different clothes spontaneous?"
"For me, not wearing dresses, cute skirts, or high heels is spontaneous enough since that's all I ever wear" I explained while handing him my plate.
Sebastian took it with a smile as he went over to put it in the dishwasher. He had his back slightly turned away from me as I continued to talk.
"And Ryan bought them for me because she feels that if I dress different then I'm being somewhat spontaneous"
"I'm liking this Ryan, already," he says looking at me with a playful look in his eyes.
"Eh, she's cool," I say with a shrug of my shoulders. "I mean, we're only doing this stuff because of a bet, but I think she'll cave in"
"Why do you say that, Miss Rachel?"
"Ryan hates anything remotely girly," I tell him, standing up from my seat. "So wearing girly things will most definitely make her cave in"
"What does the winner get?"
"If she wins, which she won't, she gets my car"
"....."
"And when I win, I'll get her car, which is a 1956 Jaguar XK 140 Replica Roadster," I tell him with excitement in my voice.
"Those cars haven't been made for a long time. It probably cost her millions"
"Probably," I say crossing my arms over my chest leaning on the kitchen counter. "But don't worry, once I win it I'll be sure to let you take it for a joy ride"
"Oh, Miss Rachel," he says with a light chuckle at the end.
"Hey, I'm serious here, Sebastian," I tell him with a happy grin. "Have a bit of faith in me"
"With a promising future like yours, Miss Rachel, I have nothing but faith in you, trust me"
My smile dropped, turning into a frown at the mention of my so-called 'promising future'
It's not that I'm bitter about being the future owner of my mom's company, especially since it's worth a shit ton and she trusted me enough to take it over. The problem is my father. When the lawyer read my mom's will to us, to say he was livid would be an understatement. I guess he assumed that it'd go to him which makes sense because he is the more obvious choice. They worked together to make it what it is now. Plus, I know nothing about running that company or any company for that matter, minus the little things I picked up from my mom before she died.
