Medusa Has a Heart

Medusa holds a Heart,
Within her rigid beating breasts,
But every snake that writhes upon her head,
Ties knots within her chest.

And dear Medusa has a heart,
I've heard, she cries in endless pain,
For where she once could host a love,
Well she can never love again.

And how her days must be unending,
How her mind must be untame,
For every being holds her fearing,
Never daring, say the name.

But see, Medusa has a heart,
All it would take would be a kiss,
To set a harpoon through heart,
And send her curse to the abyss.
