I submerged, gasping for air. The chilly, icy water caressed my body as I struggled to stay afloat. I thrashed for a while, inhaling a bit of saltwater. My lungs were burning and my movement were sluggish. I closed my eyes and stopped trying. I sunk into the dark abyss below, the darkness welcoming me. My body relaxed, I pushed my arms out and resurfaced. I sighed deeply as I floated on my back staring at the cotton like clouds that polluted the sky. The sea breeze fanned over my skin. "I'd miss this," I whispered as my empty gaze met the slate coloured sky. I lifted a blemished arm out to the sky as if I could grab one of the fluffy clouds. "So this is what hope feels like," I giggled as I started to sink once again.
