As I locked gazes with Edgar, I had the strangest feeling. It was warm and fuzzy, like the satisfying sensation of a soft blanket on a rainy day. I think I knew then and there.

This would be what Bryony would call 'leaning too far'. And, my god, was I beginning to fall.

"See," I began quietly when the music had stopped and applause filled the air. "That wasn't so bad, was it?"

He smiled faintly and shook his head. "I s-suppose not."

"You're actually a better dancer than you make out, you know."

"Are you s-sure you're n-not d-dancing with someone else?" He joked.

"I'm sure," I laughed. "You shouldn't underestimate yourself, Edgar. A little faith goes a long way."

At this distance, I could admire the extraordinary colour of Edgar's eyes. Grey as the early morning fog. But green like the stormy sea; green like the envy I felt towards them. They were so smiling, so gentle, so beautiful.

Just like him.

"You're right," he then said. "I wouldn't have b-been able to do this if you d-didn't have faith in me."

"I can't take all the credit," I laughed. "You had enough faith to listen to me and that takes some courage."

He chuckled. "Yes, I s-suppose you're right."

After dancing to just one more song, I led Edgar to the tables and chairs that surrounded the makeshift dance floor, feeling deserving of a rest and some of Mrs Fisher's famous lemonade. It was one of my all-time favourite things.

"Would you like a drink?" I asked him as he sat down.

"That'd b-be lovely, th-thank you."

I left Edgar to watch the more experienced dancers to make my way over to the drinks stand and as I was pouring out some lemonade into two plastic cups, Bryony approached with a skip in her step and a bright beam on her face. She and Jack seemed to have that look down to a tee.

"Well, it looked like you and Edgar were having fun," she remarked.

"We were, actually," I replied. "I encouraged him to get up and dance with me. He was reluctant at first, but it seemed like he was having a good time. I've never seen him smile like that."

"That's fantastic!" She exclaimed. "I've never seen him so animated in all the time he's been here. You seemed to have worked your special Katelyn magic."
