'Meet me at the entrance to the tower at seven? ;)' -TS
'Why?' -SR
'Just be there?' -TS
'Fine' -SR

At five to seven, Steve was stood outside the tower-in regular clothes as Tony had given him no indication of what they were doing-looking back and forth across the street, wondering where his boyfriend was. Ten minutes later, he looked up as he heard some gasps come from across the street, only to see Tony, hovering slightly above him in the iron man suit. Steve rolled his eyes- what was he up to now. But before he had chance to ask, Tony had swooped down and scooped him up. 'Tony, no!' Steve half yelled, 'Put me down.' Tony only smirked, flying higher and higher. Steve continued to protest, even throwing in some profanities which was very uncommon for the patriotic hero. After what felt like a lifetime for Steve-which in his case was very long- Tony started to lower them, before placing Steve down on firm ground. 'Bloody hell tony' Steve breathed, his legs giving way, and sitting down, breathing quickly. 'Hold on' Tony thought, instantly coming out of the suit. 'Babe? What's wrong?' He asked, kneeling next to him. No answer. 'Please, Steve, tell me what it is' he pleaded. 'I'm scared of flying okay? There I said it' Steve said, avoiding eye contact. 'Steve-I'm so sorry, I didn't know, I never would of- ah crap now look what I've done. Seriously how do I always mess something up. I'm really sorry.' Steve who was starting to regain composure, tried his best to smile reassuringly at his boyfriend, not wanting him to get upset over it. 'Tony, it's okay, calm down. Look I'm fine, see. It's just after-you know....the Valkyrie and the crash, I guess it's just an unresolved issue of mine' Steve tried to explain. 'But, you fly in the quinjets all the time, you never seem fazed by it'
'I am a little, I just hide it well I suppose' Steve had his hand on his neck 'it's slightly easier when I can't see that I'm flying, I always stay in the back.'
'I'm really sorry, I promise, from now on, no more flying...except the door to the roof is locked-you know, with everything that's been happening with Banner, fury and I thought it best to keep him away from anything like that. Which means I'm going to have to fly you down' Tony said guiltily. 'Just, close your eyes and I'll fly as slowly as possible' he said, stepping forward. 'No, no, Tony wait, why are we up here in the first place' the captain asked curiously. 'Well I had this date planned but I understand that you probably don't feel up to it now and-'. Steve cut him off, 'I'd love to, babe'

So Tony lead him around to the other side of a ledge to reveal a picnic blanket all set up, with candles and rose petals and wine, 'it's perfect' Steve thought, skipping over excitedly. Tony smiled at his eager boyfriend and walked over to join him. Steve went to open the picnic hamper but Tony stopped him, 'There's something we need first, Rogers,' he said, reaching behind the wine bucket and pulling out two pairs of fluffy, patterned socks. Steve grinned, taking a pair and putting them on, Tony following suit.
They ate and talked as the sun set, and when they'd finished the last glass of wine, they laid down underneath the stars like one of those cheesy romance films. Tony with his face pressed into Steve's side who had an arm around his shoulders. 'I love you' Steve whispered after a while. 'I love you too' Tony mumbled back, sleepily. 'Oh no, no, no' Steve exclaimed, sitting up abruptly, 'you are not allowed to sleep until you've flown me down from here.' So, begrudgingly, Tony stood and helped pack up the picnic stuff, wrapping it all securely inside the blanket, before calling his suit and picking the blanket and Steve up and waking over to the edge. 'Close your eyes' he whispered before flying to the ground at a much slower and gentler pace.

'Nice socks' Natasha remarked as the pair walked through the common room on their way to their bedroom. Neither responded, instead both just smirked, even if there was a light dusting of pink over both of their cheeks.
