First Floor, Detroit Police Department, Detroit Michigan#8012 INSTRUCTION MEDIA CORRUPTED. MULTIPLE VIRUS DETECTED. IN LOW POWER MODE. CONTACT NEAREST CYBERLIFE LAB IMMEDIATLY.
Red haze clouds my vision, but I can clearly see where I'm going. My trudging feet drag across the carpeting, yet do not hinder my speed. I press the corner of Connor's desk into my palm, remembering its markings. I'm here. I look past the stopped, damaged lenses in my optical units, and further investigate the case in my hand.
-----------------------
A suspected AX300 has been seen entering the 112087 Ave, inside the Fakhrara building. It appears to be armed.
Officers who heard the message: Detective, Reed Gavin
Androids who heard the message: Supporting detective 16 - 13 -1
-----------------------I was the only android who heard this? If Detective Reed heard the message, why wouldn't the RK900? I was not designed to ask questions, I was designed to solve, and support detectives. And that's what I need to do. I take in a deep breath, enter the coordinates, and get going.
POV: 313 - 248 - 317 - 51 "Connor"
06:58 November 19th, 2039
The Anderson's House, Detroit MichiganThe blanket that lays on my bed has been flung across the room, and lies hastily on the floor.
Micro fiber fleece blanket. "Sand." 250 Thread Count.
I wouldn't know why Sean would throw the blanket. Maybe he saw a spider.
Come on Connor, focus. Your partner is missing. My mind is preoccupied with the threat of everything I've believed crumbling on top of me. I shake my head, and look for more clues.
Sean has such a unique style of investigating, it's impossible to mimic. I may have to try.
I was brought out of my investigation by a silent presence behind me. The slow, careful breathing made my cheeks burn. I did my best to ignore him, and try to find Sean. As I buried my nose further into a picture frame that rested on my headboard, I became more and more aware of Hank behind my shoulder. I quickly exhaled, and whipped around.
"Could I bother you to help look?" Sarcasm dripped from my teeth, and burned a hole through his guilt. He didn't lash out. His sunken eyes knew everything I had to say, he deserved to hear.
"Connor, I know you're not going to forgive me, and I don't fucking blame ya for it. I, just want you to know that I really didn't mean what I said. I know you're special. You're the smartest machine in the world, and now you have free will. I know that you have talent beyond that I could ever comprehend. I don't want you to doubt that you're nothing." His lowered voice rarely changed inflection. The drill of hung over raked against the sides of his skull. My eyes remained on the picture of Hank, Sumo and I on our trip to Thailand.
"Why, would you even say that, Hank?"
"*Sigh* Because my stubborn ass is tired of always being wrong, and instead of actually telling you how I felt, I lashed out against something I knew would hurt you. Humans are fucking bastards Connor. Another reason Androids are going to prevail. And I gotta say, I'm not sad about it. If I had to meet me, I'd want a different species ruling the world." He offered, walking towards the fallen blanket, not absorbing any information; just finding an excuse to not meet my eyes.
"Wrong about everything?"
"Yeah. Like, when I said I was mad at androids for killing my son. When I told my wife that I was going to get cleaned up, and she wouldn't have worry. When I told myself that I wouldn't let androids in my family. When I told myself I could stay out of the bottle. When I told you that you didn't mean anything. I was wrong Connor." The tired in his eyes were washed down the salty tears cascading down his cheeks. I was at a loss of words. Everything he said was true, but he was saying it so horribly.
