Chapter 33
*Hannah's POV*
"Jake, what's the matter?" I sat beside my brother.
I knew exactly what was wrong, but wanted to give him a chance to rant himself out.
"Why did she have to run off into the woods alone?!" He yelled, punching the ground. "Alec may be dead, but now she is too."
"Jacob Calaisin! There has to be a way to bring her back." I tried to give him hope.
"Really now?" His eyes glazed over with unshed tears. "She'll come crawling back to a worthless creep?"
I put my arms around him. "You know she didn't mean it."
"She was telling the truth! People always tell the truth to people they don't like. Why would they lie?!"
•Kyle, get over here.• (dot is mate telepathy, single quotation is witch/warlock telepathy, double quotation is talking/yelling.)
Kyle walked over. •Tell Jake that Jenna didn't mean what she said.•
•How would you feel if I said that to you? Give him some space.•
I backed away from Jacob and placed my arms around Kyle, resting my head on his shoulder. "When you want to talk, I'm here." Kyle offered.
"Thanks." He looked down at his hands.
Kyle guided me away from him and toward the others. •Wait, their bond is strong which means they won't be able to stay away from each other for more than a week.• I looked back where we'd last seen Jake, but he wasn't there.
"JACOB!!" I saw his shirt as he ran into the woods. "JACOB STOP!!!"
*Jake's POV*
I knew that they wanted to help, but no one could. No one could help me through this. I looked back at Hannah one more time before I stood and ran away.
"JACOB!!" She yelled at me, but I didn't stop. "JACOB STOP!!!"
I kept running, tears falling to the ground behind me. I knew where Jenna went, but I wouldn't bother her there.
I was running back to Parksville.
I spotted the tree that Jenna and I had raced to the first day we were here and smiled. I ran past it, spotting the sign and remembering when she and I sat by it.
I ran past the close edge of the forest and down to the far edge. I darted into the trees, and found it.
The tree that Jake had hurt Jenna with. Her blood was still sitting on the bark and I punched it and growled.
I sniffed the air. Something wasn't right. I followed the smell of smoke and came to one of Alec's camps.
I saw a central, controlled fire, but someone was making it lash out at the Vampires. I looked as far into the fire as I dare and saw Jenna. She started the fire on herself.
'Jenna, please stop.' I pleaded.
I felt light, seeing her again. Like everything was right. But I knew that she wasn't the same girl. She just wasn't.
Her head snapped over to me and I ran back just in time. A whip of fire had come at me.
I ran at the cliff nearby, tore my shirt off, and dove into the water. I froze mid-jump, wishing Jenna was waiting below, laughing at me for hesitating on the edge.
It came as a shock when my hands hit the water, I'd been so lost in thought. I barely had time to suck in a breath before my head went under.
I curved up and my head broke the surface. I scrambled to the edge, coughing. I forgot that I had the power of water.
