Chapter 3

TIME LASPE TO AFTER INITIATION

Four ranked first for his class. Me and Zeke aren't together because I found out Shauna liked him so I got them together. Now me and Four are dating. It took him a little to get used to the whole affection thing but he came around. Our first kiss was on the rocks by the chasm. How much more romantic can it get in Dauntless? Amar "jumped" off the chasm which was really sad. I cried for hours. I know we are supposed to be brave and all that but he was like my dad. Especially because I didn't actually have one. I don't think he really jumped, which makes it so much worse.

I walk into Four's apartment- I don't knock anymore. "Four!" I call.

"Tris! You know I don't like it when you call me that" he says coming out of the kitchen.

"I'm sorry.... Tobias"

He smiles and wraps his arms around my waist. "That's better"

I smile and kiss him. "So what job are to going to pick?" I ask.

"I don't know"

"You could be leader since you ranked first"

"You know I can't do that" he says letting me go and turning around.

"Right I forgot I'm sorry" I say. He opened up to me about his dad. I really wish I could kill him. I mean who does that to his own son?!

I walk up behind him and put my arms around his waist burying my head into his shoulder. "I wish I could kill him"

He laughs, "get in line"

"I think you should be a trainer. For the transfers."

"Yeah that would be fun. Or for Dauntless born" he says smiling.

"No. You'd get to distracted and so would I. Things would end badly"

"That's true. But I need another job, I can't just be a trainer."

"Hey, I helped with the trainer you get to pick the other one" he laughs. "Come on job choosing is about to start" I say grabbing his hand.

When we get to the Pit I'm attacked by Uriah. He picks me up and throws me over his shoulder. "Uriah!" I squeal.

"Hahahahahaha oh hey Four I'm gonna steal your girlfriend for a bit. Do you mind?" Uri says.

"Uh-" I cut him off.

"I mind!" I scream.

"Oh hush" Uriah says. "So Do you mind?"

Tobias looks at me and smiles. Dammit.

"Nope not at all" he says and walks away laughing. I groan.

Uriah walks away with me still over him and finally puts me down. "What was that for?!" I say hitting his arm.

"I wanted to warn you about Lauren. She likes Four and doesn't like the fact that you're with him and you're two years younger"

"Whatever. Everyone knows age doesn't matter here"

"True"

"Well I know that's not the only reason you kidnapped me so what else?"

"I did not kidnap you! As you can see we are still in a public place!"

"Stop changing the subject. Spill"

"Fine. I like Marlene"

"Ah!" I scream.

"Shh I don't know what to do"

"Uh ask her out?"

"Well obviously"

"I don't know! Figure it out!"

"You're so helpful!"

I smile. "I know"

I hear Tobias' name being called and I look up.

"Uh transfer trainer and control room" he says. Everyone cheers and he walks over to me. I smile.

"So control room?" I say.

"Yeah I get to spy on people. How cool is that?"

"God you're turning into Zeke."

"Well we are best friends"

"Sadly" he laughs and so do I. When Max is done me and Tobias head back to his apartment to take a nap.

We lay on his bed and I snuggle into his chest.

"Tris?" He says quietly.

"Yeah?"

"I might be in love with you... I'm waiting till I'm sure to tell you though"

I smile. "Well that's sensible of you. We should get a paper so you can chart it"

He chuckles. "Well maybe I'm already sure. I just don't want to scare you"

I look up at him. "Then you should know better"

He smiles. "Fine. Then I love you."

I press my lips to his and pull away. I burry my face into his chest and say, "I love you too" and with that we fall asleep.
