Chapter 9

After another few hours of training I walk by the chasm. I sit down at the rock where me and Four had our first kiss. It was so amazing. I sit there for who know show long just thinking of all the good times me and him had together. But eventually I wondered which ones were lies.

I'm snapped out of my thoughts when someone taps my shoulder. I jump to my feet and see it's only Four.

"God dammit don't do that!" I almost scream at him.

"I'm sorry I was calling your name but you didn't answer me" he says.

"Oh. Uh what are you doing here?"

"Me? I could ask you the same thing it's almost three in the morning why are you awake?"

"It's is?! Crap." I try to walk away but he grabs my arm.

"What's going on with you and Eric?"

"We are dating. I've said this already"

"You're uh... You're really with him?"

"Yes"

"Why?"

"Because he makes me happy" by the look on his face I could tell that hurt him.

"Oh well that's good I'm happy for you"

"Thank you" I smile and walk away. I'm almost to the dorms when I hear running footsteps behind me. I turn around and see Four coming towards me. God why won't he leave me alone.

"Does he really make you happy?" He asks.

"Yes"

"I mean like happier than I did?"

"He hasn't hurt me so yeah"

"I didn't mean to hurt you"

"Yes you did. You were cheating on me for most of our relationship, you can't say you didn't want to hurt me when you knew if I found out it would"

"I didn't think it would get that far"

"But it did!" I scream.

"I know but..."

"But what?"

"I don't know.."

"Will you just answer one thing for me?"

He nods his head. "Of course."

"When did it start?"

He puts his head down and scratches the back of his neck. "The night we celebrated the end of training"

"We celebrate those a lot. Which one?"

"The year after mine" he says slowly.

"You mean the year I couldn't find you? The year you told me you were with Max most of the night talking to him about not becoming a leader?"

He looks at me sadly and nods.

I inhale sharply and just stare at him.

"When did you start this thing with Eric?"

"That same night."

"What?"

"We stayed out talking in the chasm. And I realized he wasn't a horrible person. I just didn't cheat on you."

"How could you not tell me you were out all night with him?!"

Now I'm angry. "Do you hear yourself?! I was talking to Eric all night, having a nice conversation. YOU were cheating on me."
