Chapter 3
The bright sun rudely woke you from what seemed like the best sleep you have had in a long time. You stretched your arms and slid out of your bed, heading towards your bathroom. You looked in the mirror to meet your face.
You inspected the darks circles under your eyes and the tiny little imperfections on your face that seemed to always drive you crazy. “Good morning.” you mumbled to yourself as you dampened your toothbrush and squeezed a generous amount of toothpaste onto it.
You sighed as you placed the brush into you mouth and began scrubbing. Tuesdays were probably the most boring days for you. You considered it your free day even though you still stayed in your room.
Gurgling, you rinse your toothbrush, dried your hands and made your way towards the door. Wait. You stopped midway. What am I doing? I’m not going downstairs. You shook your head and sat back down on your bed.
You stayed like that for a minute or two when you finally decided to get out of your damn room, after you haven’t seen your mother in the longest time. You carefully creaked the door open and tiptoed down the old rickety steps, being careful to not trip or fall.
As you reached the bottom your mother noticed and made her way for you, wrapping her loving arms around you. You missed this kind of human interaction, plus you were starting to get bored of your room.
You felt something wet fall atop your head. Your mother was crying. “Mom, don’t cry.” She wiped her eyes and gave you a smile which you happily returned.
“I just missed you, honey.” You embraced your mom tightly.
“I missed you too. So, breakfast?” Your mom nodded in response You took in a whiff of the kitchen and instantly fell in love with the scents emitting from the magical place. You took a seat on the table and waited.
As you waited you noticed somebody walking past your house through the window. You observed and tried to focus your eyes and noticed it was Alfred. Should I say hi? Nah, he’ll think we’re friends or something.
Alfred turned his head to look in the direction of your house when he noticed you staring at him, he grinned widely and waved at you. You, being caught off guard blushed a deep shade of pink and hesitantly waved back.
While doing so your mother came out of the kitchen and noticed. “So I see you remember Alfred.” You looked at your mother, confused.
“Remember? What do you mean?”
“If you don’t remember, then how’d you know him.” She responded as she placed a delicious plate of hot gooey pancaked in front of you. You explained to her, you told her about the woods and how you met him there and your mondays.
“Well, you might not remember, but you and Alfred used to play a lot together.” Your mouth dropped and your brained exploded. Alfred? No way. Haha she’s kidding right. I would’ve remembered at least. Now wonder he looked familiar.
