Chapter 4

Monday came by again and you took this chance to once more venture out into the woods, where Alfred was possibly waiting. You wanted to ask him something. As you reached the aromatic woods a familiar blonde greeted you.

“HEYY!!!” He exclaimed loudly, causing you to regret standing so close to him when he said hey. You nodded in acknowledgement and placed your hunting gear down on the earthy dirt.

You plopped down onto a fallen log and patted the space next to you motioning for Alfred to sit down there. He hesitantly obeyed. “I have some questions to ask you.” You informed as you looked intently into his eyes.

“Ok bring them on!”

“Do you remember me?” You asked.

“Sure I do,” He started causing you to feel slightly happy. “I saw you on Thursday, silly!” You shook your head in disappointment.

“No I meant from when we were younger!” You snapped as his eyes wondered elsewhere and he thought about your question. He shook his head. You felt a pout play on your lips. You for sure didn’t remember him but you hoped that he remembered you.

“Now it’s my turn to ask!” He cheered and you nodded. “Why do you come here?”

You felt a little sensitive about the subject of this forest and your history with it but for some strange reason you felt comfortable around Alfred. “My father used to take me here, before he,” You paused feeling uneasy. “Before he left for the army. I trained myself here everyday. My father was a strong and amazing man whom I look up to. Then he died.”

Tears prickled your shining (e/c) eyes. “Don’t be sad.” Alfred comforted. How could you NOT be sad though?

“You don’t understand Alfred! I lost my dad! It’s so painful.” You pointed at your heart. “He was my best friend! Now he’s gone.” You sulked as tears swam down your cheeks.

“You think I don’t understand?” He asked, a little out of character. “How do you think it feels to live without my dad AND brother? You think you’re the only one don’t you. Well sorry to report to you that you’re not special and everyone has experienced the devastation which is losing a loved one.” He protested. “So don’t you EVER say I don’t understand, because I very well do.”

You were shocked by Alfred’s outburst. “I’m so sorry.” You tried as he looked at you angrily. “I just thought that-” You were cut off.

“No, it’s ok. I’m sorry too, I didn’t mean to snap at you.” He awkwardly smiled and rubbed the back of his head. You nodded with a smile on your face signaling that it was ok.

Then you felt something calling you, a strong force pulling you towards it. Hypnotized, you stood up.

“Hey, where are you going?” Alfred asked.
