(Third Person)

"Lizzy!" Ciel shouts from his office, glaring at Sebastian who was routinely putting a tea cup back onto a tray and wheeling the tray out. He crosses his arms and leans back, sighing and adjusting the eye patch over his eye.

"Coming!" the bubbly blonde yelled back, bouncing up the stairs and giggling when she felt her curled hair bounce up and down with her. She hurried into Ciel's office, curtsying before walking up to his desk. "Does my dearest husband want something?" she asks and smiles playfully, leaning over the table and poking Ciel's pale skin.

Ciel didn't move one muscle. "Sebastian's tea is shit. Go make me some more," he demands. He talks to his wife with a blank expression, his eyes not seeming to focus on her as he talks, but more onto the papers she was leaning against. They crumbled and scattered around under her bony elbows, mixing up something probably important.

This was how it's been for the last few years. Sebastian would make tea, Ciel would claim to hate it, and ask his beloved wife to make some better tea for him. It was a endless cycle, every day.

Tea, tea, tea, tea. Work, work, work, work. Lizzy, Lizzy, Lizzy, Lizzy.

Sighing, Elizabeth nods and stood up straight, glancing down at the papers she had scattered about. "Of course, Ciel," she says politely and turns around. Before she exits the room, however, she turns back to Ciel, green eyes showing a twinge of pain. "Um.. Luka is.. he's been playing the same song on the piano. I've been telling him he should play something... different, but he says you like it. I would like you to at least talk to him.. a little.." her voice falters as she stares at Ciel, yearning for him to show some more emotion, something. Empathy, pain, sadness, interest, something that he lost so many years ago.

She loves him. She's always loved him, ever since they were kids. Elizabeth knows that Ciel loves her too, to some extent, but obviously not as much as she loves him.

When she hears no reply, she smiles tightly and nods, walking out and closing the door behind her. It hurt, that he loved another, but she tried to ignore it. As long as she could see Ciel, she would be fine. At least, she hoped she would be.

Skipping down the hallway, she hums a tune of happiness, because anything else would make her cry.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Ciel could remember every single detail  from that day, to the knots of blood woven in her beautiful hair to the crinkles in her torn up cream colored dress. He remembers rushing into Lillian's manor and dashing to the interrogation room. He remembers when he screamed at Sebastian, pounding his chest and begging him to help her god dammit she can't leave him!

She can't leave him when he's only just figured out how much he cares for her. How much he loves her.

Love was a strange word, one Ciel hadn't been able to muster since his parents had died. How stupid was that, how stupid was he, just realizing this now?

He watched her, helplessly, as she reached out to touch him but she wasn't just there yet and all she could do was reach out, and reach out. She mouths a few words, words caught in her dry throat as her eyes darted across his face. He noticed, there was fear in her beautiful eyes. Desperation. They were clouded over, begging, pleading for him to just save her, save her from the unbearable pain she was experiencing.

Ciel was a coward. He truly was. All he could do is watch. There was a force holding him back, restraining him from running to her and grabbing her charred hand. His mouth was bitter, his tongue felt like rough sandpaper. He couldn't produce words, the back of his throat bubbled with vomit that kept the words from coming out. He felt like someone had stabbed him in the chest..
