Chapter 11

"You're seriously horrible at this game," I said.

"What? It looks like cotton candy," Jerome said.

"All clouds look like cotton candy," I said. "The point is to find unique shapes."

Jerome sighed. "Fine. I'll see if I can see something else. Oh, that one! That looks like a cotton ball."

"Are you doing this just to annoy me?"

"Maybe," Jerome said, rolling onto his side so he could face me. "But can you blame me. You're adorable when you're annoyed. Then again, you're adorable no matter what."

       I scowled. "I'm not adorable."

Jerome snorted. "Okay. You even look adorable scowling like that." He then softly placed his hand on my cheek, which made me both smile and blush. "I'm really happy you're my boyfriend."

"I'm really happy too," I said.

Jerome smiled before leaning down and softly pressing his lips on mine. Things couldn't have been more perfect since the two of us started dating. He definitely gave me the confidence I needed to just be myself, even if I was a bit scared to do so at times.

He was just such a confident person himself and didn't care what anybody else thought about him. Seeing him act like that only made me want to be that way. I still had hesitation at times, but whenever he was around, the hesitation was rarely there.

When Jerome pulled away, he sat up and said, "So how about we..."

"No," I interrupted, well knowing what he was going to say.

"Don't cut me off like that," Jerome said. "For all you know, I could have said we should get some food."

"You were going to say so how about we should get some food?" I asked. "That's improper grammar."

"English isn't my first language, Nolan. Sue me."

"Okay, but you were still going to say something else. And the answer to that is no."

"Again, you have no idea what I was going to say."

"'Let's go to your bedroom and make out so nobody can see us'."

       "...Can we?"

       "No."

Jerome huffed. "Well, now I'm extremely bored. Cloud watching just isn't fun."

"Because you only say things like cotton candy or cotton balls or anything cotton. But I will take your first off and get some food."

"I didn't offer that. You and I both know I was going to suggest that we got make out."

"Too late. The word food came from your mouth so that was your idea." I stood up and held out my hand for Jerome. He sighed and took my hand so I helped him stand up before leading him to the backdoor of my house.

We went to the kitchen but that was where I saw Mom was talking to my uncle Tony. Who was also my biology teacher at school. Which was the class I napped in a lot. Or was constantly on my phone.

I may have been taking advantage of Tony's kindness because I knew he would never yell at me, let alone get mad.

"Ah, Nolan, just the nephew I wanted to see," Tony said.
