Chapter 5: babysitting

The crew arrived at a new island the next day. Normally they wouldn't dock because that could mess up their log pose. But they really needed new supplies so they didn't have any other option.

"Let's split up, if we all go together we'll just stand out too much." Nami said as she made a list of the things they'll need to buy.

Luffy grinned and wrapped his arms around the surgeon's, "I wanna go with Torao!"

"Mugiwara-ya get off." He replied annoyed but made no movement to push the boy off of him.

"Uhm sure. Zoro you stay on the ship because we don't want you to get lost again."

"Whatever." The swordsman shrugged and sat down against the railing.

"I'll go with Nami-swaaaan~"

The crew split up and all went different directions, leaving Zoro alone to guard the ship. They made Luffy hide his tail in his pants and his cat ears under his hat to avoid any unnecessary attention.

"Luffy! Stop running off!" Law snarled at the smaller captain who was running around while jumping up and down. "How the hell do you even have so much energy?"

"You're just slow! Shishishi~" Luffy jumped next to him, making his hat fall off and revealing his fluffy ears in the progress.

"Your navigator said we needed to look for supplies so stop running around already." He sighed. Dealing with Luffy really was a challenge. "And put your hat back on."

"But I feel so good! Like, I'm full of energy! Even more than usual shishi!"

"I can see that."

They walked into what seemed like a small town. There were a few people standing outside, talking to each other and paying no attention to them.

The straw hatted captain stopped jumping as he sniffed the air, "Yosh I smell food!!" He grabbed the man's arm and yanked him towards the direction of the smell.

"Hold on!" He tried pulling his arm back but the boy's grip was too strong, as usual. "Goddamnit Luffy-ya! We're not here to eat!"

Luffy turned around, looking back at Law, "But I'm hungry!"

"And I don't care."

The boy pouted as he let go of the man to cross his arms over his chest, "Traffy is so meann~"

Law sighed, "When we're finished buying the stuff we need, we can stop to get you some food if you want."

"Really??" The smaller captain asked excitedly.

"Only if you stop running off and be a good boy." He replied, ruffling his hand through the boy's hair.

"M-hm!" Luffy leaned into the touch, his cat ears moved on itself accordingly.

Law realised what he was doing when he heard Luffy make a purring sound. He retreated his hand, which made Luffy whine, and started to walk again. What the fuck was he doing? Is he babysitting a cat now?

The other captain put his hat back on and followed him, taking a hold of his arm again. Law didn't push him away as they walked through the streets. After a while of walking around,  and having to listen to the stories Luffy was telling, they finally found a small shop.

As Law entered, he recognised a familiair voice coming from inside the shop.

"Eustass-ya? What are you doing here?"
