Sun walked along the trail through the woods, keeping close to the banks of the stream. Anywhere there was water, like a stream, or a river, or even a lake, was her home. The thick oak trees shielded her from the sun, and she felt cool and well fed. Six moons after her mother had abandoned her as a kit, she knew how to survive, and she was able to hunt and fight.
It was just passed dawn, and she had been walking along this long, winding stream for a few days. She hadn't seen other cats in moons. Ever since her mother had abandoned her, she had kept a wide berth of them. She didn't need to be left behind again. I'm not a kit anymore.
Suddenly, Sun stopped and opened her mouth, tasting the air. A strange scent touched her tongue, that wasn't anything like she had smelled before. And it wasn't just one cat either, it was lots of Clans. Sun felt confused. The smell was fresh and sharp, like snow. She kept walking, pasing through the stream. The smell continued until a clump of oak trees. Then a different smell made her stop. It smelled like holly and trees. The two scents met, and both continued back the way Sun had come from. She kept walking, passing over the scent line. If this was some cat's territory, what did she care? She was a loner, she could go where she pleased.
Sun was cool under the covering of pine and oak trees, and didn't notice when a rustling in the moss and ferns behind her told her of some creature moving around. If it was prey, lucky them! If it was some cat, she could fight them off.
Suddenly she tensed. Another paw crunched in a bramble near her. Another was breathing loudly, and the one she had heard before hissed, "Shush!" The whispered order was soft, but Sun could hear it just fine.
She whipped around and straed at the patch of brambles, ferns, and tall grass near her. "Come out-"
A loud yowl ripped through the air as a dark ginger tom hurtled out of the ferns and leaped onto her back, snarling. "Get out of our territory, kit!"
The other cats joined him. Sun flailed, flipping over and exposing her belly as she kicked out with her hind legs. The fist tom went flying and landed against a tree with a sickening, srunching thud. One of the cats, this one a brown and black one, tore at her stomach, and blood pooled around her on the ground. Any other normal kit would have died then.
But Sun was no normal kit.
She whipped around, standing on her hind paws and sticking out her tail for balance, raking her claws down the ginger tom's spine. "More trouble than I look, aren't I, dung-breath?"
"Cherrypelt! Help!" He yelped, and the third she cat, who was a bright ginger, thundered forward, grasping Sun's back with her paws and cuffing her hard around the ears. Sun shrieked and whirled around, slick as a viper, and clawed the she cat's eyes. She yowled and fell back. Sun looked at the she cat, then at the final tom. She lifted her chin. "Are you done, or should I continue?"
But she could feel that she was critically wounded. The tom panted, blood leaking from a gash on his side. "Leave here, kit!" He snarled. "Never come back. This is HollyClan territory."
Sun turned and bounded off through the woods, back the way she had came. HollyClan? Sure. Like she cared about some stupid Clan's territory.
A/N: So, a little short, eh? But I like it, it was action packed. What will happen...? I shall update SOON!!!!!
