Tales of the Trio: Unbroken

Chapter Ten

After even more traveling for the trio, passing through town after town, Lela was starting to run low on coins. She was even stealing a little amount in each town in order to afford the things they needed, they had been buying food for when they were between towns, renting rooms, buying actual fulfilling meals at the taverns they stayed at, and it's been taking a toll on their coins but at least they were well fed. They even bought a pillow just so Maximus and Dominic could stop fighting over the pack as a pillow every single night, mostly for Lela's mental sake. Another thing they bought was a sword for Dominic so that he can defend himself while he learns magic and so that Lela can keep both of hers, last thing they bought was a map so they could see where they're going, mark towns that have wanted posters in, as well as mark where they've had orc sightings. There's a town named Kelna, it's not far from the edge of the Idradale's territory, so there shouldn't be any news of them being wanted yet, this should give them time to do some work to get a bit more coin before they have to be on the run again and being able to focus on finding orcs rather than diverting attention for money making opportunities as well.

Unfortunately their luck didn't hold, they had ran into a town with wanted posters and were identified by them. They had gone into a small sized town, it was essentially a farming village but large enough to be considered a small town, but while they were looking around for the stuff they needed for the next trip, a few of the guards tried to threaten and arrest Maximus and Dominic, so they drew their weapons mainly out of confusion to what they had done wrong since they didn't realize there was posters here. The guards began to attack them right then and there, forcing Maximus and Dominic to defend themselves which was kind of hard for them since they had to make sure their swings would only wound and not kill the only source of protection this town has. While they were defending themselves Lela came up behind them and stabbed a few in their sides making them fall in pain, essentially immobilizing them, then while the other guards turned around to look, Maximus and Dominic sliced at their legs making them fall preceding to knock them out. Lela put her daggers away and pulled out some papers from her pockets and showed Maximus and Dominic then said "Look what I found guys! We're famous even all the way out here!" After looking at papers Maximus cheered "Yay! Everyone knows us!" Dominic shook his head "Guy's those are the wanted posters, wanted dead and only alive if they can guarantee our transportation to the kingdom." Lela looked at him confused "So? We're still famous?" Maximus agreed with her and Dominic shook his head again "Let's get out of here while we can." They left that town and when they were out of sight they changed course completely in case any of the villagers were watching and planned on telling the guards or the kingdom although it would only buy them a little extra time. There was only so many possible towns including Kelna that their fake path would take them given the amount of land left between that town and the edge of the territory so if reported that would narrow the search but at least they'd still have time and time was very limited as it was with the orc situation. They supposed they could always hide away in another kingdoms land if need be since they couldn't be followed there by the kingdom's soldiers.

That was a while ago though and now they're about to reach Kelna which was a long travel away. Kelna is a fairly large town, it's kind of like a fort thats the size of a city, it was originally formed to act as a staging ground when war was about to break out with the nearby kingdom, but ever since a diplomatic solution was reached the place turned into a town and kept growing. They even have their own walls, they aren't fancy strong walls but solid enough and still there. The place is pretty nice looking and is ran well, there is some crime organizations but there's a mutual agreement with the guards and those who run Kelna, it's not corruption but it keeps the crime from being chaotic and keeps murders to just those involved with the crime organizations rather than innocent civilians. The trio arrived at the front gates of Kelna, they noticed guards on the walls and near the gate, they were allowed in without any issues meaning they aren't wanted here yet, the guards don't recognize them, they're being lead into a trap, or lastly they're fine and Kelna doesn't care about whose wanted. When they entered the gates and got inside the walls they hid and waited while Lela quickly searched around the place, she came back and confirmed that there are no wanted posters of them and it wasn't a trap. So they explored around the place, admiring the quality and all the stuff they have access to here, basically a miniature capital city with the different type of buildings, shops, housing, and more. They found a tavern that they could afford for a couple days while they worked to make as much coin as possible before having to move on to avoid more lengthy stops.
