Amberle knew that Singapore was her only option for an escape because it was just a pit stop before the big journey to where ever Lucian's heart desired, Amberle thought that a life like this sounded pretty damn fantastic but she didn't want to be a prisoner any longer, she had the locket tucked away in between her breasts for safe keeping hiding the chain with the collar of the dress. She was terrified of what might happen to her if she was caught with it in her possession, Lucian was busy on the poop deck shouting orders at his miniscule crew to get the deck ready to dock, the four men were scurrying around on deck like their lives depended on everything being perfect. Actually their lives did depend on everything being perfect.
Amberle stood on the bow of the ship waiting for the best opportunity for her escape, she had planned it to be when everyone was too busy to notice that she was gone, maybe offer to carry a crate off the ship and then slip away into the crowd. It was perfect, flawless, only one thing could destroy her chances and that was if Lucian saw her.
When the ship had docked and all the men including Henry and Lucian were busy carrying things off the ship and ordering the men around, giving instructions on what they were to get, supplies and sailors and rum... 'why was the last one was important?'. As one of the pirates came up to carry a crate she walked over and offered to help him being that usually two people were per crate, luckily he accepted and as she walked down the plank of wood she felt freedom embrace her with open arms. They placed the crate down with all the others and the sailor went over to get his instructions from the captain, this was her chance, she looked to find the biggest crowd to her left and leaped into the coverage of the many people.
Amberle found herself lost in a matter of minutes, the crowd continued to push her forward like a strong current. She pushed against the person to her right hoping that they would part enough for her to get out of this current and onto a street that was less crowded, luckily a man did stop and she took the opportunity as she knew another one might not arise, when she was free of all the people she let out a breath she hadn't known she was holding. She clutched her chest feeling how her heart was beating faster than it has ever done.
She was free, free of those pirates, free from a mistress and free from the orphanage, just free to live her own life as she pleased. Only one problem arose, she needed to find a ship to take her to another island that was less, filthy.
Amberle continued to wander through the town Lucian called Singapore, she could faintly remember hearing it somewhere when she was in Abington but couldn't remember exactly where, it was probably in the maps room. The town was fascinating, different and scary but fascinating all the same. Even though she was free of the Queen Anne's Revenge she couldn't help but to feel paranoid that someone was following her, every so often she would turn her head to see whether or not her vibes were right but could never see anyone.
She walked past a store which held many dresses of all sorts and stopped in her tracks, backing up until her face was almost against the glass, luckily she had that small amount of control left. The dress that had perked her attention was so long it touched the ground and the waist was so thin Sag envied anyone who got to wear it, it seemed awfully formal like something one would wear to a ball, something caught her eye in the shop, it was behind the large gown but she couldn't quite make it out from outside the shop, walking inside she didn't realise how cold she was until she walked into the warmth the shop provided from the fireplace.
Amberle made her way to where the material which caught had her eye, It was marvellous, gorgeous, different than anything she would have worn but in its own way beautiful, it suited the pirate life well and if she had any money this would be what she would buy.
