So so sorry for not updating, I was on holiday with no WiFi and then it was my birthday and then I was filming something so yeah, I was pretty busy. Anyway, I've looked at the entries for my comp, and decided that since I've been away for so long EVERYONE deserves their character in my book! They'll each be introduced in the following chapters starting with... @wolvesandrainbows !
The bell goes for first lesson just as I finish my pancakes. During that time Robyn filled me in this on what classes I have and what the teachers are like. She also supplies me with a detailed map of the school, and the skinny on the teachers.
I find out that the guy who will be teaching me defence is Logan, the butch dude who I saw patrolling the corridors last night when I got up to get a glass of water.
Defence is the only lesson I have today, 6 hours of it, 9 til 3. It takes place in a sort of gym outside in the grounds of the school. When I walk in there the unmistakable smell of chalk, rubber, and sweat hits my nose, causing me to wrinkle it.
Robyn has a different timetable to me, so whilst she's sitting in a classroom doing advanced calculus (whatever the hell that is), I'll be stuck in a sweaty gym hopefully not getting my butt kicked.
I'd still rather be in the gym to be honest.
So since Robyn's abandoned me, I have no choice but to hang around with Peter, who seems a little too hyperactive for my liking. He's showing off his mutation by zooming around the gym every few seconds, popping up next to me and just being a general pain in the ass.
I decide to try and distance myself from Peter, as he seem to be quite popular and is forming a small crowd of mutants, chatting excitedly. I find myself drifting towards a girl standing in the corner, playing with her hair, and looking like she doesn't wanna be here. Her hair, by the way, is gorgeous; very long and blonde with teal and pink streaks in it.
As I approach her she stops playing with her hair and says “Oh hi! You're the new girl Abi, aren't you?"
OK, what is it with this school and everyone knowing my fricking name?
But y'know I need all the friends I can get, so I smile at her and reply, “yeah that's me!” We get chatting and although at first she seems a little shy, my new friend Annika is really chatty once you get her talking about stuff that she likes, such as baseball for instance. Man, she could talk about baseball all day. I don't understand baseball- I never have, so I just smile and nod politely.
“So, Abi”, Annika says, “looking forward to your first defence lesson?” Before I can even open my mouth, I'm cut off by an earsplitting whistle that resonates through the gym, silencing even the loudest of us.
Our teacher, Logan, walks in and looks us over for a moment;an icy tension falls into the atmosphere. He's big, muscular I mean, and has cool sideburns. I'm pretty sure he's one of those ex-army, super strict teachers. I'm also pretty sure he's the guy that told me, my dad, and Charles to “go fuck yourself ”.
Ah, good times.
“Alright, listen up”,the guy shouts, “My name's Mr Howlett, but you can call me Logan; today we're going to be learning the basics of defence, and what your individual strengths and weaknesses are.”
And with that the most hardworking six hours of my life starts. For the first three hours, in the morning, I'm put to work with Peter, much to my annoyance. He's such an arrogant arsehole, who's annoyingly powerful, and he knows it. Boy does he know it.
We're set off with a couple of simple exercises at first, mostly stuff that I've learnt already, but as soon as Logan realises that, he puts us to work on some more advanced exercises, and they're fun- but hard.
“So, Abi,” pants Maximoff as I pin him down once again, “you're pretty good at this stuff, looks like you must have had some experience!”
“You do know who my dad is right?” I quip as I lean back and wipe the sweat off my forehead.
“What, he taught you that?” Peter says sceptically.
“Um, yeah, he taught me everything I know.”
“So, you were pretty close huh?” What is it with Peter and wanting to know all about me. I'm about to snap back at him but then I notice that he looks kinda sad.
“I never knew my dad, you see, and my mom is nice, but I know I'm a bit of a nuisance to her.”
I sorta feel sorry for him, as I really miss my mom, but my dad gave me all the love and care I needed.
I'm just turning to say something to him when the bell goes, signalling the end to our first three hours, and the start of our break. I'm about to ask Peter if he wants to join me for break, but of course, he's sped off.
That boy.
I tried to make this chapter slightly longer to apologise for the wait! The pic at the beginning is Annika's hair. And Aaaw poor Peter, I feel so bad for him!
