I open my eyes and see Michael laying next to me on the couch. I check my phone and it's almost 9.

"Michael, wake up," I whisper. He slowly opens his eyes and smiles hen he sees me.

"Hey," he says.

"Hi."

I hear footsteps coming down the stairs and I see my brother.

"That's it. I can't believe you. I let you break the rules and you have to go beyond that. I told you he could sleep down here if you slept upstairs. If I give you a little, you just want more..." Alex starts.

"Stop! I'm old enough to make decisions for myself. Nothing happened while we were down here," I cut him off.

"I'm telling mom and dad. I'm telling them how you went to the dance and slept on the couch with Michael."

"You'll just get yourself in trouble," I inform him.

"I don't care. They should know. See! This is why I told you to go with Ashton. He would've listened!" Alex yells.

"Woah. Don't bring Ash into this. You don't know him like I do. I agree that I don't deserve Anna, but I'm way better than Ash. He's capable of a lot," Michael comes into the conversation.

"Excuse me? I've been tutoring him all year and last I checked, you guys aren't friends anymore. Maybe he was how you said, but I've gotten to know him since then," Alex snaps.

This is getting intense. I feel like I should say something, but I don't know what.

"No! You've gotten to know what he wants you to know. Did you know that our friendship ended because of Anna? He was playing his infamous games with her and I stopped him. He was doing what he always did to get girls to sleep with him to your sister," Michael raises his voice.

Alex's eyes soften and he sits down. "When was this?" he asks.

"At a party at the beginning of school," Michael answers, also lowering his voice.

"Why are you guys fighting about Ashton Irwin? He is not worth our time, guys," I say.

"You're right, Anna. I'm sorry, but I'm still telling mom and dad about what happened. I shouldn't have let you go," Alex says.

I huff and grab Michael's arm towards the door.

"I'll be back tonight, jerk. I'm gonna go spend time with my boyfriend before I get grounded for life. So thanks a lot!" I raise my own voice.

I slam the front door closed before he has a chance to say anything else.

"That was..." Michael starts and stops.

"Yeah."

"And last night was..." he starts again.

"Yeah," I say again.

"Why don't we go to my house so I can get dressed and then I'll take you to breakfast," he suggests.

"Sure. It's not like I'll be able to do that in the next few years because I'll be grounded."

"That's the spirit," he says excitedly and I laugh.

He takes me to his house and I'm guessing his dad is working or something because there are no cars in the driveway. Michael turns the engine off and smiles at me. I can't hold in the smile that I return.
