She couldn't be dead. There was no way she could be dead. After Victor was destroyed, I see her just laying there...still not moving. I fell right besides her, feeling the gems power diminish. I held her in my arms and begged her to wake up.
"Arrabella," I say, "Open your eyes. Get a healer in here now!" I shout at a soldier just standing there. He nods, running. She almost looks like she's sleeping, a very peaceful sleep, and I didn't want this to happen. She had to wake up and rule her kingdom...it was everything we wanted.
"Michael," Aru says, softly. The pain in his eyes show he's struggling with this too, "Arrabella's gone."
"How can you say?" I'm shocked that he even said that.
"Because it's true. I wish it wasn't but she's gone. This time there's no coming back," he tells me.
"Well she wouldn't be if she didn't try to be a damn hero. She always risked her life."
"She always risked her life for us," Owyne says, "I hate that she did it as much as you but unfortunately we can't change anything."
Henry nods, "We have to tell everyone that Arrabella's dead and fix her kingdom, we promised her we'd take care of it."
Ivan shakes his head, "No screw that, she can't be dead. We fought so hard for her to rule...I refuse to believe that this is how it ends."
"Ivan-"Aru begins but ends up arguing. The others argue while I zone it out. I couldn't let her be dead, I just couldn't. I had to do something. Then it pops in my head.
"She's not going to be dead," I tell them, silencing the fight.
"What?" All Four of them say in the same tone and at the same time.
"I won't let her stay dead. I'm going to sacrifice my immortality."
"Michael you're over a hundred years old, the years will kill you," Henry reasons.I nod, "I know but it's worth it. Arrabella deserves to live and rule her kingdom."
"No you're our leader," Owyne says.
"Yeah we need a leader," Ivan puts in.
"Besides, you're old, you'll die immediately," Aru says, we all look at him and Ivan whacks him behind his head, "What I'm not lying."
I look at them and sigh, "Ivan will be your leader."
Aru shakes his head, "Come on, Ivan can barely lead himself, how is supposed to lead us?"Ivan glares at him, making Aru chuckle softly, "Sorry Ivan but we need Michael."
Ivan rolls his eyes, "You're annoying but you're right. I'll sacrifice my immortality. This team needs you Michael, let me do this."
I shake my head, "I can't ask you to do that."
"No you're not. I want to do this. I'll do it for Arrabella."
"No that's a horrible idea, Ivan's old too," Aru says.
"Aru we all got immortality at the same time." Henry tells him.
"Yes but unlike you guys I'm young so let me do it. I might survive longer."
This starts an argument about who should sacrifice their immortality until Henry has an idea, "Why don't we all sacrifice?"
"What?"
"If we all sacrifice, we can sacrifice enough to age normally. We'll age and die then that way Arrabella can be alive and none of us lose anyone."
"I can't ask you to do that."
"Michael, get it through your thick head that you're not the only who cares about Arrabella! We want to do this for her, we love her, we want her back," Henry loses his cool. It was kind of weird to hear him talk so well about Arrabella, I remember when he couldn't stand her.
I sigh, "If you want to do it, let's do it."
Henry nods, "Let's go around Arrabella. We need to join hands and think about sending our immortality over."
We all crouched around her, holding hands and imagining sending our immortality over when we were interrupted by a voice. Standing right there was a woman with long blonde wavy hair, a white dress, and no shoes. Her piercing blue eyes look at us. I speak, "Who are you?"
"Esme," she speaks in a soft voice, "I am the angel of immortality. Is there a reason why you are trying to get rid of it?"
I motion towards Arrabella, "We want her back."
"You'd sacrifice living forever for a human?" She asks, astonished and we nod.
"What's the point of living forever if you can't live with the person you want?" Ivan asks and she sighs.
"There are rules for this, if you get rid of your immortality you will grow old, not immediately since each of you are donating, but you will eventually die. Is that something you want?" She asks and we nod, "Fine, if I allow this, then you Five are in charge of training and appointing the next Five. With your immortality gone, they won't gain immortality, but the world still needs the Magnificent Five. Do you promise and agree to train the next generation of the Magnificent Five?"
"We agree," We say in unison.
She sighs, "Very well, I will bring her back. Once I do this is final, there is no going back."
"Understood."
She sighs once more, closing her eyes and we feel a bright light push us back. Then when we look back she's gone. Looking down Arrabella still has her eyes closed. Soon after I see her move her head and sit up fast.
"Arrabella," I say and she looks at me, eyes wide.
"What-"She begins but I grip her in a tight hug.
"You're alive."
I feel her smile and hug me back, "I'm alive."
I've never felt anything close to happiness until this moment and I would trade a thousand immortalities to have her back. I didn't make a bad choice, it was worth it.
