Which Smile?

“She has a perfect smile!”

Is exclaimed almost every day

But what is behind our expressions?

What are we trying to say?

You might tip your head on an angle

And cast your eyes to the side,

Slowly returning your coy gaze

Seductively to a particular guy

Or you might try the “Smize”

Where your face is relaxed

And your eyes beam and say

All the words you hold back

There’s also the popular "Grimace"..

That starts out genuine, but wanes

As you wait for the person with the camera

To finally click the button and end your pain

Maybe you like the Bemused smile -

The one you plaster on your face

When you have no idea what the person is going on about

And you daydream in your “Happy Place”

For the lovers out there,

There is the “Love Smile”

Where your eyes are warm and soft

And you grin at each other for a long while

But the "Real Deal"

May just be the best -

When you let your laughter loose for

A smile that comes from the heart in your chest..

Whether the smile lasts a moment

Or stays lingering in one place

Nothing looks better, my dear,

Than a smile on your face!
