Goodbyes are stupid

chapter 4 : no power

i woke up sweating. i noticed my fan wasn't on and it's always on. i don't hear the air conditioner. i have a thing that when it gets to hot I faint. so I walk downstairs and find it even more hot. my mom's on the phone and i can hear laura upstairs. i check on what she's doing and find her in those ahort shorts and a top. she put on a white long skirt before she noticed me.

" Are you coming swimming or not? "

" Ummm uh sure. "

" Well then get dressed before we have to take you to the hospital.  "

right when she said that i thought about Skye's mom. i still need to ask my mother about it. i went back to my room, put my hair in a bun, and got ready. i'm guessing we are going to jordn's pool because my mom wouldn't let laura wear those shorts in a public pool. especially if there are guys. then joseph popped into my head.

* ughhh get out of my mind *

i walked back downstairs and got two cold water bottles from the fridge. my mom came from the hallway wearing a bathing suit under her clothes. we got in the car and left.

i was right we we're at jordn's house. she's pretty nice. i've talked to her a few times. she's 14. yet we are the same height. she has blonde hair and blue-grayish eyes. she met laura at the park about 4 years ago, they instantly became friends, i don't know how. she has a pig pool by the way. and a big backyard.

i got out of the car and walked inside.

" Heyy! "

i heard jordn say to laura. when it comes to friends laura no longer thinks I exist and I couldn't care less. she's a great sister but she loves her friends more than me. therefore she's not that great.

" Hey!! "

she pushed me to the side so she could get to jordn who was sitting on the counter. do you see what I mean? she literally put her hand on my face and shoved me aside.

" Sooo how are you and Andrew??? "

andrew is jordn's boyfriend. never met him, but as laura describes him he's "hot".

they went to jordn's room while my mom talked to jordn's mom. i went outside,  put on my sunscreen, and jumped in the pool. i wish I had checked how cold the pool was before I jumped in, but it was to late. the coldness delivered chills up my spine. well I was completely wet so there was no way i was getting out. for the first 20 minutes I had the pool all to myself. i started wondering about Skye and her mom again. then about my mom and joseph. my mom came outside and sat in one of the chairs.

" Who were you talking on the phone with? "

" The electrician. The powernis out and they should be fixing it by now. "

she said as she checked her watch.

" Oh. "

" You okay? "

i wasn't sure if she was talking about the heat or if i was having a problem.

" No. "

i decided to say.

" So your not wondering why Skye's mom was at the house yesterday? "

" Maybe. "

she laughed.  i didn't know why she found it funny.
