She had been plagued with the visions for as long as she could remember. She was used to them, but that doesn't mean they didn't terrify her. They scared her. She would wake up from her nightmares and find the monsters waiting for her. When she ran for an escape from the hell her life had become, she hit dead ends filled with thick, suffocating ink. The visions trapped her inside of her own head.
They tricked her into believing she was safe. They left her alone for a few days, but they would return, worse than before. She screamed at them and gave in to the fear a few times. Nothing drove them off. The darkness always surrounded her.
The hallucinations were why she started cutting herself. Thin, pale lines marked up and down her legs, arms, and chest. The cutting reduced the pain of the really bad visions. Not all of the scars were her choice though. Sometimes the monsters would take over. They controlled her, they destroyed her quicker than anything else could.
They were inside of her.
They knew her weaknesses.
They knew her fears.
