FIRESTONE
Our hearts are like firestones and when they strike we feel the love sparks will fly.
they ignite our bones and when they strike we light up the world!
I felt like a dead man walking. I had no life in me. Tragedy had followed me like the plague. I never wouldve thought in a million years would I find someone that wanted to love me for who I genuinely was. I honestly didnt think I could love anyone the way I used to.
As my birthday approached, the feelings of loneliness and of being unwanted just keep growing worse like adding salt to a wound. Each day it seems harder and harder to find motivation. Motivation to wake up and do even the smallest of things throughout my day. The one thing that keeps me going, is the coffee house. Its the one place I feel safe and secure.
As the depressed emotions set in like drying concrete, I decided to go to the coffee house to try and clear my head. So with my book in hand and my quiet and introverted self in need of caffeine, I went to the closest coffee shop to my house. If anyone knew me they knew I would be there. I would be in the same chair in the back corner of the room reading whatever book I happened to have that week. I liked my life this way, always the same. The same people in and out with the same love I had for this place.
As I walked up the few stairs in front and opened the door, I heard the familiar ding of the bell announcing one and all that I was here. I walked through the doorway and my senses were suddenly overwhelmed by the scent of freshly baked pastries and newly brewed coffee. Taking a long overdrawn breath I took a quick glance around the room to gather my surroundings. Once I gained the courage to walk up to the cashier, I ordered a small mocha, gave her the correct amount, and moved to the side to wait for my order. I headed over to my corner table whilst waiting for my coffee, and sat down organizing my things in a specific way that I like.
After setting up my things I heard my name called. Getting up to get my coffee I took another quick glance around the room. In doing so I saw the book I was reading sitting at another table. Curious about who was reading the book I grabbed my coffee and sat back down. Opening my book, I occasionally peeked over the pages of my book but the person wasnt there. So after a while of looking for them I decided to plug in headphones and focus on reading and drinking my coffee.
After roughly 20 minutes of reading I noticed a shift in the atmosphere around me. Looking over the pages of the book I saw a man sitting across from me. He was staring at me as if I was someone very special to him. Can I help you? I asked the man with curiosity present in my voice.
I saw your book, I am reading the same one. How far are you? he responded in a monotone voice. As he said that, my eyes lit up with excitement. No one has shown interest in the things I like before today. Even when my parents were around they had never cared much about the things I enjoyed doing.
Im on chapter 15. What about you? I replied with even more excitement in my voice. I could see the curiosity lighting up his face.
I am actually on the same chapter! Today has been the first time I have been able to sit and focus on reading in quite some time. He stated excitedly
Well, maybe you should try and escape life sometimes. Life isnt fun when you cant enjoy a good book.
