Rj
I stared at this insanely gorgeous human being and decided she must be a mermaid.
"Anong Dyesebel?! Una, wala ka sa dagat. Pangalawa, obviously hindi ako mermaid."
I rubbed my eyes. Oo nga pala, I was in a fountain. Nadapa na naman ako. Kasi naman Rj, teka - "Miss, help!"
"Ha?"
"Miss, help me please!" I scrambled out of the water and started running again, pulling the girl with me.
"What? Why? Anong nangyayari?"
The girl looked like she wanted to help out but suddenly realized I might put her in harm's way.
"Teka! Sino muna ang tinataguan mo?"
"Miss kasi..."
"GUARD! GUARD!"
"Miss, wag! Hindi ako masamang tao. Tumakas lang ako sa kasal ko."
One minute, he was getting ready for his wedding. The next, he was standing by Cassandra's door, wondering if they should call it off. She opened the door to find him there, and in that moment, both of them knew - they did not want this.
But before either could speak, they were pulled apart and shuttled to their respective places.
Before his memories took him far, he realized that the girl was hitting him. "Aray! Aray! Ano ba? Aray ha?"
"Masamang tao ka nga! You ditched your bride?' Anong klaseng -"
"Aray, Miss! Sandali! Aray! Sandali kasi. Hindi mo naman ako naiiintindihan."
"O sige. Mag-explain ka!" The woman said.
"Ganito kasi -"
"Mag-explain ka sa bride mo. Paki ko naman sa paliwanag mo?"
She walked out and I ran after her. "Miss! Wait!"
I trailed her and forced myself into her room.
She screamed and I covered her mouth.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry talaga! Aalis din ako. Magpapalipas lang ako ng ilang oras. Please?"
Our eyes met and something unfamiliar, but very pleasant stirred within me. I took my hands off her mouth but didn't move away.
I took in her features. Exquisite.
SLAP!
"Aray!"
"Pasalamat ka yan lang! Gawin mo ulit sa akin yun and I will crush your organs to make sure you never have kids."
I covered my vital parts. "Sorry naman na kasi. Promise, wala akong masamang balak. Just a few hours. Please?"
She rolled her eyes, but thankfully agreed. "Magpalit ka muna. Your barong and slacks are soaked."
Oh, yeah. Naka-barong na ako. Alam niyo bakit? Kasi, while fitting my coat the night before, the entire back ripped. Parang si Hulk yung nagsuot?
Nanghiram pa ako ng barong sa tatay ko.
"May extra clothes ka?" I asked, skeptically.
She handed me a silk robe embroidered with "Bride" at the back. When I protested, she raised an eyebrow and yelled, "Guard!"
"Ito na. Okay na. Okay na."
"I have to head to the wedding soon. Will you be okay here?"
"Yes."
She took my picture. "Just in case nakawan mo ako."
Before either of us could say anything more, there was a knock on her door, "Girl! Tawag na tayo! Halika na!"
I disappeared into the bathroom to change, vaguely hearing her friend asking if she could use the bathroom.
When I went out, they were both gone.
Thank goodness, because this silk robe barely covered me. Geesh. Mabuti pa maghubad nalang ako eh.
But that would be pushing it.
I suddenly felt tired from today's events. "Mamaya ko na patutuyuin yung damit ko. Matutulog muna ako."
