Nic

Ang kukulit niyo naman!

Teka, let us clarify... walang ganap sa pool ha?! Bawal yun mga gaga. Back at his place, marami dun PERO not THAT.

Anong pinagbago nung naging kami?

Wala.

Akala niyo naging mas sweet kami or romantic? Hindi no! But I was fine with that because I appreciated his consistency more.

Regularly, he would pick me up so that we can spend some time together during the week. Kapag bad mood ako, for sure dadaan yan.

"Hello, Kulas my Love! Nandito na ako sa baba! Bilisan mo."

"Ito na nasa elevators na. See you."

When I get in his car, "Uy ang pogi!"

Bwiset din talaga.

Minsan, bigla niyang sinabi, "Nicolas, palitan kaya natin tawag natin sa isa't isa?"

"Ha? Why?"

"Kasi ang hirap ipaliwanag sa mga tao na yung term of endearment mo sa akin comes from 'booger'," he said.

Ayoko sana kasi ang cute cute kaya ng Boogs/Boogieman/Boogerman, pero pumayag akong subukan kasi siya naman yung kawawa.

One morning pag sundo niya sa akin, bumati siya ng, "Good morning, Honey!"

"Ay puñeta! Boogs naman ginugulat mo ako eh."

"Honey! Hindi na Boogs."

"Hay. Okay. Fine! Good morning, Honey!" And we laughed out loud. "Boogs, I can't yata!"

But we said we'd keep trying the traditional ones. When he wanted to buy an insanely expensive Iron Man toy at a shop that would mean he won't be able to deposit in our joint account that month, he pleaded, "Please understand, my Darling."

I made a face at him and said, "Ulul."

Again, we laughed. He got his toy after promising he won't starve himself because of it.

Boogs finally agreed to stick with our nicknames when laughing at other endearments was getting in the way of makeout sessions.

It was starting to get hot and heavy during one of our movie nights at the condo, his hands started moving downward but just before he touched me, he whispers, "You're so hot, my Beloved."

Nahulog ako katatawa.

And he couldn't get me back in the mood that night because everytime we'd kiss again, I'd remember "my Beloved" and fall into hysterics again.

He stuck with Boogs and Kulas after.

And it was great.

Except that some people thought Rj was gay or bi.

Some people in his office knew of me, but they would also hear him on the phone sometimes, being malambing, saying, "Sunduin kita later ha? Date tayo. Happy anniversary, Nicolas!"

Akala nila close friend lang ako at ang totoong boyfriend ay ang secretive na si Nicolas.

I told Rj na payag na ako to change because of that. "Just call me Nic."

He made a face. "I don't care if they think I'm gay, wala namang masama maging bading."

He was right and I loved him more for it. For my sake, as long as I knew that he wasn't(sure na sure nga eh) and ako ang bet niya, that was all that mattered.

When he proposed, I said yes... after five hours.

I still feel guilty!

Pero natakot kasi talaga ako. There was that moment of doubt na gagawin niya sa akin yung ginawa niya before. And THAT hurt him.

Which I hated, but I didn't want to say yes when I wasn't sure.

So, we talked and talked and talked. About the ceremony we wanted, what kind of house, and some other plans we've already previously discussed and I realized then, my heart already had an answer.

And I said yes.

Did I still worry? Yes.

But everyday he would assure me, "I will always run to you, my darling Kulas."

We had to practice our vows saying our real names because baka biglang Boogs at Nicolas ang masabi namin sa church.

He stood at the altar waiting for me and smiled like an idiot when I got there.

"Ready to do this, Kulas?"

"Yes, Boogs. Ready!"

"By the way, ang gwapo mo naman. Let's get married, my boypren!"

Years later...

"Daddy, why is our garden like this?"

The little girl looked at her father, who was currently carving something on a tree.

Rj laughed. "Promise ko kasi sa Mommy mo yan a long time ago. Sabi ko sa kanya gagawan ko siya ng garden tapos ilalagay ko yung lyrics ng theme song namin."

I rolled my eyes. Yes, we had a beautiful but very unique garden. It was quite vast, 6 trees, numerous smaller plants, rocks... most of which had words carved or painted on them.

He kept his promise.

"Boogs, Kulasa! Come in na! Time for merienda."

My husband and daughter gave me matching smiles.

And, just like he does everyday, Boogs keeps his promise and he runs to me. Always toward me.

🎵 Together forever and never to part... 🎵

TOTOONG THE END 😂
