"Rylee, get in here." Axton yelled from the kitchen. It was now dark outside. I stood up from my position on the ground and brushed the tears out of my eyes. The large short I was wearing was riding up so I tugged it back down so it was now up to my mid thigh.
I walked to the kitchen and found Axton with his back turned. He was stirring food in a fry pan.
"Yes?" I said. He turned to look at me.
"My dinner is almost ready, I want you to set the table for me." He said, looking down at a chopping board sitting in the middle of the island bench. He picked up the knife and started to chop onions.
"What about me?" I asked. He looked back up at me.
"Hm, I don't know. You don't really deserve anything. But I guess you can have my scraps." He said thinking to himself.
"Your scraps?" I questioned.
"Yep" He said popping the p.
I didn't say much more after that. I didn't really want to eat his scraps but I knew that if I argued he'd give me nothing. And boy was I starving. Those grapes I ate did nothing to fill my stomach.
I walked around the kitchen opening almost every draw trying to find the cutlery and plates. Axton continued cooking ignoring the fact that I had no idea where anything was.
I eventually found the right draw and pulled out two knifes, two forks and two plates. I walked towards the table and sat them out. I turned to Axton and said, "do you want sauces?" He replied with a simple "no".
Unsure of what to do I walked back to the table and sat down where I set out my plate. I waited patiently for Axton to finish cooking.
He walked over to the table with the food in the fry pan. He poured all the food onto his plate and sat down, almost ignoring me.
I watched as he placed each fork full of food into his mouth. My own my mouth was watering.
I looked back down at the plate hoping that he would leave some food for me but he kept eating until there was a few pieces of mangled steak and two mushrooms. He slid his plate over to me and simply said, "eat." I looked down at the plate and felt a tad revolted. At home I would never eat someone else's seconds.
But I pulled up my big girl pants and grabbed my fork and gobbled down the last remaining pieces of food on the plate.
Axton stood up and looked back at me. "I want the dishes done and then meet me in my room." He said before turning around and waltzing out of the kitchen.
I picked up the clean plate and knife and put them back away. I then grabbed the dirty dishes and took them to the sink.
The whole time I was washing up the dirty dishes I was thinking about Home and just how much I miss it.
Axton seems to only think of me as a princess who gets everything she wants but he has no idea. I hate taking money from my parents. I've brought basically everything I own. I use to work as baby-sitter and tutor kids who needed help. Well that was until I got kidnapped and all.
I finished up the dishes and putting them away. I exited the kitchen but not before switching the light off. Axton said to meet him in his room, but honestly I don't know where that is.
I walked up the stairs and followed the light coming from a room at the far end of the hallway. I entered the room and jaw fell open. If I thought my room was gorgeous this room was ten times better. A chandelier hung in the middle of the room and it's light lit up the shiny walls and onto the marble floor. In the middle of the room was a king sized bed and there sat Axton.
Upon entering Axton turned his head my way. I walked over to the bed. "Where am I sleeping?" I asked. He looked up at me with an expression as to whether I was serious or not.
"Don't you remember the rules?" He questioned, standing up from the bed.
"You can't be serious and expect me to sleep on the cold ground?" I insisted.
"Oh but I do Rylee, laying on the ground isn't as bad as laying 6 ft under. Or don't you remember, that's where your parents put mine."
I shivered of the thought about my parents ever doing such a thing. I made my way over to Axton and found a single pillow laying on the floor.
I watched as Axton swung his feet up onto his bed and then looked down at me.
"Turn the lights off princess." He said closing his eyes and getting under his large duvet.
I walked over to the light switch and turned the lights off. With no lights on, I was left in complete darkness. I steadily retracted my steps back over to the side of the bed.
I laid down on the cold ground and shoved the pillow under my head. The pillow was quite thin and didn't give me any comfort whatsoever.
I hadn't noticed before but this house was freezing and laying on the ground only made it worse. I began to shiver whilst I curled up in a ball trying to warm myself up.
After what seemed like forever, I finally drifted off to sleep.
