since pike had been elected chancellor camp had become tense, his hard rules and prejudiced views on grounders had taken its toll on everyone. you especially had been affected by the new chancellor as your boyfriend bellamy had become a part of his new team. you knew bellamy was going through a rough patch after the incident at mt. weather and that he just wasn't himself, you had tried to be understanding but your patience was wearing thin due to his recent behaviour.

bellamy no longer showed affection, he no longer woke you up with delicate kisses on your face, he no longer held your hand when you were nervous or played with your hair trying desperately to braid it properly. you couldn't even remember the last time he told you he loved you. recently he had gotten up early in the mornings leaving you to wake up in a cold and empty bed, whenever you tried talking to him all you ever received was short answers or at worst, no answers at all. he never smiled anymore and he was slowly falling apart and it was breaking your heart to watch him do this to himself.

after the third day of bellamy not talking to you, you had decided that enough was enough. you marched through the camp looking for his familiar brown face, you caught a glimpse of his back before he disappeared into your shared tent. deciding to confront him you push the flap of the tent open and stood there, hands on your hips and a mix of determination and anger settled on your face. bellamy barely glanced from his gun which he was currently reloading before uttering two words that would ultimately piss you off even more.

'what's up?'

you were fuming, three days and that's all he could manage? he was in for a world of pain. you stepped further into the tent, now standing in the middle.

'what's up? after three fucking days of ignoring me that's all you have to say to me? what's up?

bellamy set his gun down on the bed before standing to his full height and crossing his arms over his chest.

'i'm sorry, were you expecting a few lines of poetry?' he scoffed.

you were in no mood for his games,

'what the hell is wrong with you? i'm sick of your behaviour, we need to talk. now'

he rolled his dark brown eyes before picking his gun up and shoving it back into the waistband of his pants. he started to walk to the exit of the tent but you grabbed his forearm before he could walk out. he looked up at you with a steely gaze on his face.

'not now y/n'

'okay well if not now, when? it's been three days bellamy i think i've waited long enough, i'm your girlfriend and you're acting as if i don't even exist! when's the last time we kissed, huh? when's the last time i've woken up and you were actually there? when's the last time you told me you loved me?'

the last sentence hit him hard, when was the last time? he felt a pang of guilt but quickly shook his head clearing his thoughts.

'i've been busy'

that wasn't enough, you needed a real reason as to why he was shutting you out.

'that's not good enough bellamy, you've been shutting me out. i'm your girlfriend for fucks sake!'

bellamy ran a hand through his dark curly hair,

'yeah well maybe we shouldn't be together!'

you felt your heart falter, had you just heard him correctly? he couldn't possibly want to break up with you, he loved you too much for that right?

'w-what do you mean?' your voice was shaky and quiet.

bellamy dropped his head,

'nothing, just don't worry about it'

you weren't going to let him go that easily. you placed a hand softly on his cheek and brought his face up in line with yours, his eyed were glassy and he had sadness written all over his face.

'just talk to me, please'

bellamy squeezed his eyes shut letting a few stray tears roll down his cheeks which you quickly swiped away using your thumb, bellamy took your hands gently into his.

'it's not like i deserve you, after everything i've done in mt. weather and to those grounders i thought you would be better off with someone else, someone who's good and who can make you happy. that's why i've been pushing you away, i thought you might be happier without me, and besides why would you want someone like me? you're a perfect angel compared to someone like me, all i am is a murderer, i'm damaged beyond repair.'

you felt your heart ache at his words, how could he think this about himself?

'bell, how could you possibly think that i'd be happier without you? you're the one thing that actually makes me happy. we've all made mistakes bellamy but that doesn't make you unloveable, it makes you human.'

you pressed a soft kiss to his lips before continuing,

'there is so much good in you bell, your mistakes don't take that away from you. please stop pushing me away, let me help you.'

bellamy smiled softly, it was a combination of happiness and sadness in his face.

'i'm so sorry, i promise i won't shut you out again. forgive me?'

it was your turn to smile.

'of course' you replied and lifted your lips up to his once again, missing the feeling. he gently pushed you back so your legs hit the bed and you fell back, he hovered over you and looked into your eyes before saying the words you had been missing for what felt like forever.

'i love you'
