as beautiful as it was, being on the ground fucking sucked. death was everywhere and everybody had lost someone, there was always the looming threat of an attack from the grounders and it seemed that every new day at least one thing went wrong that would set the entire camp back.
this negative mindset was in most of the 100, but not you. you were an optimist by nature so instead of looking at everything that could go wrong you looked at everything that was right in the world. that's what bellamy loved about you, although he believed in thinking of all the possible things that are wrong he admired that you were able to see the light even in the darkness of the earth.
bellamy had not been having a great day, to say the least. so far all the animal meat in camp had been lost due to one clumsy camper accidentally setting everything on fire, in the midst of this incident half of the hunting team had somehow been injured leaving them in med bay with minor burn injuries. as well as this the hunting gear had also been destroyed as some bored delinquents had decided to chase each other around with them, weapons such as hand crafted spears and knives had been snapped and broken. with no hunting gear and not enough hunters bellamy was stressing about the dozens of hungry mouths he had to feed, sleep deprivation from guarding the camp most nights wasn't helping the current situation either.
he had suggested taking the hunters who were injured the least and taking them on a short hunt but that idea had been shut down very quickly by clarke, she argued that the hunters needed rest and going on a hunt would only worsen their condition. this was bellamy's only idea, it was either this or everyone in camp would starve for the night.
you walked out of your shared tent with bellamy and spotted him running a hand through his dark curls in the middle of camp. bellamy was never one to express his emotions but frustration was evident on his face, his stance was tense and his arms were crossed over his chest. with his back facing you, you crept up slowly behind him and silently and slid your arms around his middle and pressed your face lightly into his shoulder blades. you heard him sigh silently and his once tense muscles relaxed slowly into your embrace.
'what's wrong?'
bellamy turned around in your embrace sliding his hands onto your waist,
'well for starters we're all going to starve tonight, my best hunters are injured so there's no possible way that we're going to catch enough to feed everyone tonight because nobody is skilled enough. so not only will i be hungry, tired and stressed i'll have an angry mob of starving teenage criminals on my hands. but yeah, other then that everything seems perfectly fine, especially with the threat of grounders attacking at any moment. that's an added bonus, but hey, just another day on the ground right?'
you raised an eyebrow at his sudden rant and his blunt way of explaining what was bothering him.
'okay well what about the reserve hunting team we have? i know they're still only learning but i'm sure if you gave them the chance they might actually surprise you. and besides even if we don't have enough animal meat then we still have those berries that we picked the other day, they don't taste great but at least they're filling right?'
bellamy let out a large sigh and rubbed his temple with his hand,
'what if there aren't enough berries to feed everyone, you realise that everything will turn to shit if i don't figure something out.'
placing your hands on his cheeks you looked him in the eye and rubbed your thumb against the side of his face gently.
'but you will figure something out, you're bellamy blake and i can't think of one time when you have let me or this camp down because you couldn't figure something out.'
you attempted to kiss him softly on his lips but slowly pulled away as he was wearing a very un-bellamy like smile on his face.
'what's that smile for?'
'nothing, it's just that i'm so in love with you. plus i might've just figured out a way to make sure we won't starve tonight.'
you smiled and pressed you're lips to his cheek,
'of course you did, i knew you would. you're the famous rebel leader bellamy blake and there's nothing that you can't do'
bellamy leaned in,
'i love you' he mumbled against your lips.
'i love you too bell, nothing will ever change that'
later that night everyone was full from the meal bellamy had managed to provide, he stood guarding the entrance of the camp. his eyes searched for you and found you sitting by the fire with an audience showing intent and interest in the story you were telling. your hands were making wild gestures for effect and the smile you wore reached your eyes, making them crinkle in the corners. bellamy smiled to himself, thank god he had you.
