Damon's P.O.V

It's been 3 years since Elena died. I walk out to the 2 willow trees that shade my wife's grave.

"Daddy!" Ember runs up to me.

"Where are you going?"

"It's September 12th." Her face falls then she takes my hand and we walk over to her grave.

"I promise she'll be back one day. Aunt Bonnie just needs to channel more power."

"Why can't she come back now?" She falls on her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.

"I'm gonna make you a promise. From now on, every year on this day, I'm gonna have Aunt Bonnie do a spell where you can see mom and talk to her. Okay?" I nod then call Bonnie.

"Hey Damon."

"I need your help."

"What is it?"

"I want you to drop the veil just for today until Ember and I go to sleep."

"I can do that."

"Thanks." I hang up then I go over to Ember. I drape my arm around her shoulder, then she leans her head on my leg.

"Hey Damon." I turn around. My face lights up as she runs into my arms.

"Elena." I feel everything. Her hair, her warmth.

"Mom!" Ember runs into our embrace.

"Baby I'm here. I'm right here."

"Please don't go again mommy."

"I don't have a choice baby. But I'll be back for real one day."

"Why can't it be today? Right now? Here? Why can't you come back mom?"

"Because that's not the plan. I'm not gonna put Aunt Bonnie's life at risk for mine. I wouldn't do that."

"Please mommy. Don't leave us again." Tears fall out of Elena's eyes.

"Baby I'm so sorry I don't have a choice."

"There's always a choice."

"Not always. But I'm always there. Remember? I'm always there."

"I want to see you everyday."

"I know, I know." She pulls away.

"I love you baby. I love you. Remember that okay?" She nods.

"I'm gonna talk with daddy for a little bit okay?" She nods then runs inside. She stands up and walks over to me, planting a heated kiss on my lips.

"I can see you. Feel you. You're here."

"I'm here. For now."

"I wish you could stay forever."

"I'll be back one day. Remember the fates can't keep me away forever."

"Do you want me call everybody?" She nods then we go inside.

"Why can't we just keep the veil dropped?"

"There are too many people that would hurt you and Ember. I'm not gonna come back without my daughter and my husband."

"We figured out a way to kill him without killing all of us."

"Klaus?"

"Yes."

"How?"

"Bonnie's gonna cast a spell. It disconnects the bloodline. We still need a bloodline so we're gonna have Elijah."

"Elijah volunteered to help kill his brother."

"Yup."

"Okay."

"Okay what?"

"You're gonna keep the veil down long enough so I can kill him."

"Deal."

"We may have another witch to bring you back."

"Elijah?"

"My friend Axel has a witch friend that despises Klaus more then any of us. He would gladly bring Elena back to kill Klaus."
