* FOLLOWING MONDAY AFTER SERAPHINA'S FOURTH BIRTHDAY PARTY *

I sit in my car waiting for 2:15 to roll around.

That's the time Seraphina gets out of Pre-School.

I always make sure to leave work early 3 days a week so that I can pick her up from school, while Matthew gets her the other days.

Our schedules are so busy, but we make sure to always make time for Seraphina

As I wait in the parking lot my mind still wanders on the marking on her back.

She was born from the connection of Angels living as humans...

She should be human...why would she have the Angels mark?

2:15. Let me go get her. I can worry about this later with Matthew.

I see all of the children in my daughters class waiting in a neat line in the hallway.

My daughter usually stands at the front of the line because of how short she is, but today she is standing in front of the teacher.

The teacher had both of her hands on my daughters shoulder. The grip seems...tight and restraining

"Mommy!" Seraphina says with joy as she tries to run for me as I hold out my arms to embrace her, but the teacher holds her back

"Mrs. Maldonado" the woman says to me

"Doctor....Maldonado" I say to her. I died and lived again to get my PHD and I'll be dammed if I'm not recognized for it. "Is there an issue Ms. Paterson?" I continue to say to her as I make my way closer.

"Seraphina, why don't you wait here while I talk to your mommy?" Ms. Paterson says to her

"Okay..." Seraphina says to her hesitantly.

I leave a kiss on her head and walk into the classroom, taking a seat in a chair set in front of the teachers desk.

"Dr. Maldonado....I noticed some strange marks on Seraphina's back and shoulders...we're concerned about what could be occurring at home..."

I freeze for a brief moment but catch myself to speak to her "Oh yes, well you see-" I start to say but she cuts me off

"There is no need to explain Dr." she puts an emphasis on on the Dr. with a nasty attitude "We know what these small markings are....we're concerned for Seraphina's safety."

"I'm sorry....excuse me?!" I exclaim towards the teacher

"What's been going on at home? Money troubles? Problems with your marriage?" She asks me, thinking that she is some kind of psychologist!

"No! There is nothing going on at home! What are you implying here Ms. Paterson?!"

"What I'm saying is...that it's not uncommon that people of your....kind...will experience anger and take it out on their children...."

"My kind?! My kind?! What the hell is that supposed to mean?!" I yell towards her

"How can I say this....people of a certain...ethnicity.."

"You bitch..." I say to her quietly

"Excuse me?"

"How dare you! How dare you accuse me of such a thing! If you would just let me explain - " I say to her standing from my seat

"There is no need for explanation Amara! I have the authority to call Child Protective Services on you and that is what I will do! You have proven to me you are in fact an Unfit Mother!"

I slam both of my hands into the desk leaning forward to stare at her face to face.

The force of the slam shakes her whole desk and the chairs in the room startling her to a jump.

I get closer to her face to speak to her "Listen to me you racist old hag....if it weren't for my laws permitting me from putting my heel to your eye I wouldn't waste any time to have your judgment day happen right now.....you want to tear my daughter from me?! You're delusional. I will die before that happens do you understand me?!"

I can feel the nerves in my body heating up. My body starts to clench and I can feel my wings just itching to be broken free from all the emotions I'm holding back but I suppress them down, making this moment even more painful.

I can feel my eyes changing colors and the scar on my eye almost expanding.

I've never felt this kind of rage before

The thought of possible loosing my daughter....it just brought this anger out of me an Angel shouldn't feel

I turn my body away and clench my fists...trying to focus on anything to keep me from snapping on this woman

"You're crazy! I'm calling CPS right now!" The teacher says

I snap around quickly to speak "STOP!"

A new good thing about becoming a Guardian years ago is that a person does not need to look straight at my scar first before I compel them.

They must look at it during the chant though, or it will not work.

I clench my teeth and speak with anger raging in my voice to get the woman to listen to me.

"Look at the scar, the scar that you see, put down the phone and listen to me!" She puts down the phone and becomes entranced while staring at my eyes.

I continue "Forget the mark, forget the accusations, forget my anger, and forget this conversation. Now when I blink you'll see me standing here, you'll quit your job and merely disappear...."

I blink and the woman comes out her trance, looks at me and smiles.

"Dr. Maldonado...I'm sorry I seem to have spaced....did you need something?"

I choke down a disgusted look from my face as I work myself to respond

"You called me in....said you had some news?" I say to her triggering her new rule

"Yes....yes! Right, I just wanted to inform you that I will be resigning from my position."

I finish speaking to the woman and rush out the room grabbing Seraphina by the arm as we rush out the school.

I struggle to attach my little girl to her carseat as I sat in the back with the doors closed.

The anger in me made my hands shake, I couldn't keep them steady to buckle her in.

"Mommy? What's wrong?" Seraphina says to me concerned.

I can't hold it in any longer and I allow my head to collapse onto her crying inconsolable.

I feel her little hands rub my head and twirl my hair.

"It's okay mommy....if you're sad we can get ice cream...that's what you do for me..." she says to me softly

I look up at her and let out a small laugh as I dry my tears.

"You know mommy loves you right? So so much. You're mommy's little miracle....and I will NEVER let anyone hurt you......now how about that ice cream?" I say to her as I tickle her to hear her small laugh

She giggles excitedly and says yes as I finally buckle her into her seat.

Before I can exit the back seat to move to the front she stops me

"Mommy"

"Yes Seraphina?"

"I love you mommy"

"I love you too my little Angel..."
