* 10 YEARS LATER *
September 3, 2036
"Seraphina! You're going to be late for your first day of high school!"
I hear my mother call to me from the bottom floor as I rush to prepare myself
"I'm coming! Just two more minutes!" I yell down to her
"We'll give you one!" I hear my father say now butting in
I look at myself in the mirror and fix my makeup one last time. I examine my school uniform and fix the skirt to make it not too long but also not too short.
Like the freak I am..I give myself a small pep talk before I leave my room
"Okay Seraphins....it's JUST high school. There are no monsters in there, just kids....you got this.."
"SERAPHINA!" My mother calls to me loudly
"I. Am. Coming!" I yell down
I rush down the stairs where I greet my mom and dad with a kiss on the cheek
"Good morning you two!" I say to ten excited
"Good morning little Angel...you ready for your first day of high schooool?" My dad says to me while pinching my cheeks
"Daddyyyy!" I say to him swatting his hands away "I'm 14 years old now...I'm not a child"
"Oh but you'll always be our little Angel!" Both my mom and dad say to me at the same time while kissing my cheeks and pinching them from both sides
"You two are so embarrassing" I say laughing while rubbing my cheek
"Well were about to me even more embarrassing because we're driving you to school!" My dad says to me extremely excited
"What? You sure? I can just take the bus so that you guys aren't late..."
"Like I would miss the day my little girl becomes all grown up!" My mom says to me while handing me my school bag, and holding up her phone to take a picture of me.
Oh Dear God....
While driving on my way to school I blast some music through my headphones....it's a band my mom used to listen to when she was a teenager.
They're called "Panic! at the Disco".
Really good band and so many songs to listen to. Ugh...I was born in the wrong era.
My dad parks the car at the corner of the school and both my mom and my dad turn to look at me with large smiles
"Now remember Nina, school always comes first, you're a very smart girl that got access into a very prestigious high school, we want you to succeed"
"I know Daddy, I won't let you guys down..." I say to my father reassuring him that I plan to try hard in school.
I blow them a kiss, wave goodbye and start to exit the car. I start to walk when my mom gets out of the car and walks toward me to stop me
"Seraphina, wait one second...." she says to me
My mom stood tall in her heels. She wore a black pencil skirt and a pink bottom down blouse. Her curly blown out hair moved around in the wind of soon start of Fall.
Even in what looked like the most uncomfortable work outfit, she moved and carried herself with ease.
"I just want you to be wary of...you know...the boys around here...I'm not saying all boys are bad but just be careful okay? And if anyone lays a hand on you-"
