AN: I'm not going to count this as a real chapter, this is mostly here because I wanted to post the picture I made of Starcrossed. I could have just posted the picture but then I got the idea of writing a little of what Incubux and Starcrossed was doing while the adults talked in the previous chapter. So, it's a bonus chapter. You don't have to read it as it does not have any plot progression, only two half-siblings bonding.
Incubux did not know how to react as he was dragged away from his parent. His father\mother?, Nightmare was the only one to have ever paid any attention to him in his short life. The other people he had meet had at most looked at him and then left to do something else. Inbucux was pretty sure that the one with a hole in his head had asked Nightmare\mom, he decided on mom, if he could eat him. Incubux mom did not seem to be the most affectionate monster but the fact that he got angry at being asked that warmed his heart.
Because of this Incubux only really felt comfortable around him mom. To meet another kid and be dragged away to play with them was way out of Incubux comfort zone. Never the less, it would seem he would have no choice in the matter as even his mom seemed in agreement with it and would not interfere.
"What do you want to play?"
Starcrossed's question startled Incubux out of his thought and he automatically shrugged, he had never played with anyone before.
Starcrossed just nodded in respons to his answer and turned around to open one of the large boxes standing along the wall. Looking inside when Starcrossed removed the lock, Incubux could see that it was filled with colorful building blocks.
"Let's play with these, we could see who builds the highest tower."
Starcrossed sounded excited, like this was something she had wanted to do for a long while. In truth, she had played this game with uncle Blue before but because he was taller then her he had an unfair advantage. Incubux though, was roughly the same height as her despite being younger so it would be more fair.
"The highest tower?"
Incubux asked hesitantly. Starcrossed only smiled and demonstrated how you could put the building blocks on each other then pushed a pile of them in Incubux direction so he could try for himself.
Incubux hesitantly tries to replicate what he had been shown but his tower kept toppling over before it even got to his midriff. Looking over at Starcrossed, she had already managed to build a tower as tall as herself and had brought over a small chair to stand on so she could reach the top and continue building.
He would admit that the sight made him irritated, maybe even a bit jealous. It was not an emotion he was familiar with so nothing in his experience prevented him from acting out on it. Before he was fully aware of his own action his hand hit the side of Starcrossed's tower and it all came crumpling down, startling Starcrossed and almost causing her to fall of the chair.
"Why would you do that?"
Starcrossed asked, she looked at what was left of her tower with tears in her eyes grieving her lost progress.
Incubux was in no better state then Starccrossed. He had tears in his eyes looking at the ruined tower feeling guild festering in his chest even if he could not fully recognize it for that. Unlike Starcrossed, that managed to hold back her tears, Incubux started crying silently. He was not used to dealing with this many emotions.
"I-I'm s-sorry *sniff* I g-got je-jealous."
It was a small miracle that none of the adults had noticed Incubux crying, not even Nightmare. Starcrossed on the other hand reacted to Incubux crying and immediately hugged the younger in a comforting embrace.
"Shh...it's okey, it's alright."
Starcrossed hesitantly clapped Incubux on the back trying to console him by copying what uncle Blue did to her when she was sad. She did not care about the tower anymore, all she cared about was Incubux. She hated seeing people being sad or afraid, it hurt.
"It's okey to be jealous, if you want we could try building a tower together. Then you'll become as good at building towers as I 'am."
Starcrossed released the other from the hug and tried to cheer him up with a bright smile.
Incubux dried his tears on his sleeves and nodded. He wanted to build high towers too.
"Let's do it then."
Starcrossed chirped and dragged Incobux to his feet and then over to where most of the building block had fallen, they would need to gather them up before the got started.
The others entusiasm cheered Incubux up immediately and he laugh. He really hoped his mom would allow him to play with his new friend again some time.
