ch.15 The Away Team

(Flameburst's account)

I've been in the Arctic for about a month now. I came across a lone stasis pod, a Predacon stasis pod. And sure enough inside it I found one. It was a mortal (not an alpha). He's black and silver. And he's called Heatburst. No he's not related to me. He told me he woke up many years ago, and used to roam these mountains for years. But recently his body couldn't put up with the cold anymore, so he went back into stasis. He and I were checking to see if there were more stasis pods anywhere around when I felt that I was needed. I told him a Prime was in trouble and I left. Then I saw Optimus Prime hanging off a cliff with a polar bear like transformer launching lumps of ice at him and some of the Bee Team. This isn't going to end well!

Optimus Prime was hanging off the edge of the ledge he'd been standing on moments before, Windblade had taken to the air to fight off Polarclaw and Sideswipe and Drift were thinking of how to get Optimus safe. After Windblade shot at Polarclaw and he returned to his cave, Windblade went to help Sideswipe and Drift. The three were struggling with the weight of the Prime until Flameburst used her front claws to lift the Prime up and placed him safely on the ledge. They had a moment to breathe.

"Thank you, friends" said Optimus. He looked to his left, at Flameburst, who had now landed. "How did you know?"

"Know what?" asked Flameburst

"Know that we needed your... assistance" replied Drift

"The same way I knew Predaking was attacking you" replied Flameburst "senses"

They then heard a roar from above. "Now what?" said Windblade? Polarclaw had used his sonic roar to cause an avalanche. "Windblade, Flameburst, take to the air" Optimus ordered, but the two had plans of their own. Flameburst hovered a few meters off the ground and charged up for a large fire projectile, to melt some of the heavier snow. Windblade stood in front of the group and turned her turbines on full blast. This weakened the avalanche to some extent. But it still buried them.

When they were sure the avalanche had stopped, Optimus used his Decepticon hunter to melt away the layer of snow and ice that buried them. When they all reached the surface, Optimus headed towards a research facility. Flameburst felt like her job was done. "Do you still require my assistance?" she asked. Optimus didn't even remember that Flameburst only had to protect him not fight with him. He took a deep vent in before replying "no, no we do not" he did feel like her strength would be valuable to the team but that wasn't her job. "Until we meet again, Bee Team" said Flameburst, before flapping her wings and flying back to Heatburst.
