Yes Optimus did survive, and the mission lasted a long time after that. But after the battle with the 'High Council' Megatron and Optimus settled down and took time to help Flameburst adapt to the new times and helped her lead. There is word that Decepticons are still out there but other teams are handling that. Flameburst spends most of her time laying around or helping with the chicks. She does enjoy flying around Cybertron and seeing the cities. And she even visited the Hall of Records, to see what it was hiding and in a way she was proud that she helped build it.
Because hardly anything is known about Predacons, and there was no sign of a war starting soon, Flameburst allowed the cyber-biologist and archivists to study Predacons. Shockwave thought making a mate for Predaking was a good idea and asked Flameburst for permission, she allowed it and the two are happy together. Flameburst will never forget her sire. And hopes she'll do the best she can at protecting the next Prime(s). She's happy with her mate Molten and hopes in the near future they will have a chick of their own.
She treats Megatron like a Prime, protecting him when he needs to be. She will forever thank him for releasing her. And two will forever remain friends.
