At the table, Swara was still trying her best to eat the spicy chicken, her face already turning pale. Trembling all over, her heart was shaken.
"I'm full, and there's still some unfinished business at the office. I'll take my humble leave then." No longer able to endure the pain, Swara suddenly stood up, said nothing more and turned to leave.
Kavita also immediately followed and stood up, and to everybody's hearing said: "Elder sister, did I say anything to make you unhappy?" It's our dinner party."
Enduring her discomfort, Swara replied: "No, you did not cause me to be unhappy Kavita. I really still do have some unfinished work to handle, I'll take the lead."
"Wait a minute, elder sister, you're always busy at work. At least let's finish up with the dinner then you can go." You see, I haven't been home for three years...
"Another day." Swara had made up her mind. "I don't want to stay here a minute longer."
"Sister!" Kavita kept saying, " Stay and eat with us ... Us ...
She didn't finish her sentence when a man's angry voice sounded from behind them: "Kavita, you go inside and enjoy the dinner, your sister Swara has many things to finish up with at the office."
Sanskar was furious, he sounded so cold and frightening: "Swara, make sure to schedule an executive meeting at 9 tomorrow morning. Sort out the details I asked for regarding the construction site and make it readily available in print during the meeting."
He arrogantly walk towards her. Just a foot away from her, he stopped, and in a low voice speaks into her ear: "since you do not want to eat, then go to work. I can assure you that that's all you will be doing for the rest of your life."
Swara slightly trembled and then quickened her steps.
This family, out of the house now, she turns to look back. She could see the lights in the dining hall and hear the faint sound of laughter floating out.
Her heart ached so much ... This family, does not belong to her.
"Swara, take this." The old housekeeper chased after her. She stuffed a slice of bean cake into her hands. "This is your old lady's speciality. Eat all of it and do take better care of yourself."
Swara was instantly choked with tears. She covered the cake with her hands, she could still feel the heat from it. It was obviously just baked today.
"Housekeeper Tina, please thank you very much." And also...... Tina, I miss you so much." She was holding still holding the wrapped cake, and then came forward to hug this kind old woman.
Tina, goodbye, never to see you again.
"This little girl of mine, if you really miss an old woman like me, then come back home often to go on walks with me." Tina stretched out her old and wrinkled hands and lovingly touched Swara's forehead.
The feel of her rough palms made Swara feel like she was a little girl again, though her words did bring her some pain. But this time around, she lowered her eyes to cover the deep pain and sorrow she felt inside.
"Tina, wait," Swara reached out and took her phone from her bag. Leaning against Tina's shoulder they took a picture together.
"Ouch, you made this old woman take a picture?"
"I'll keep this to always look at, to always remember you by."
"I'm off then."
Swara quickly walks away, afraid to turn around and look back. She wouldn't be able to hold back her tears if she does.
It's the raining season, the weather looks quite unstable.
One moment the weather looks good, the next moment it's pouring down heavily.
Swara decides to quickly rush across the street to get something from the convenience store. She walked as hurriedly as she could. The rains had made the floor slippery. All of a sudden, she slipped and almost fell right into the road. "Screech..." The screeching sound of the brakes of a car was heard.
The front door of the car opened and the owner of the car got down... "Well, you again!?"
"Do you know me?" Swara asked.
"Swara, don't you remember me? The last time you were almost hit by my car, you fainted and I brought you home." Sahil exclaimed.
"Was that you the last time? ... Thank you."
"Why are you running across the road again?" Sahil asked, very naturally moving forward and stretching out a helping hand to help her get up: "It's raining heavily, get inside the car, I'll drop you off."
"No need, I just want to go to the convenience store. I'll pick a taxi when one passes, don't worry."
"It's no trouble for me. Where are you going, I'll send you." Sahil insisted.
"Really not ... The amount of ..." she tried saying:" I really can take a taxi.
"What if the taxi driver has bad intentions, he can take advantage of you."
Looks like he's the one who's being overly enthusiastic. Seems like, compared with any taxi driver, this inexplicable passionate man is more dangerous.
"My name is Sahil, Sahil the business tycoon. Swara, the last time you fainted, I took you home, and asked the family doctor to attend to you, do you have any problem? "
Swara intended to refuse this man's good intentions, but some other part of her was willing to accept. That other part of her won the battle as she answered him back: "It's all right. I really feel embarrassed by that day, and thank you."
Sahil waved his hand: "There is nothing to thank me for, please."
If these words were heard by his friends, he would turn into a laughing stock. Is Sahil the kind of person to do something like this? Besides, for a woman?
"That reminds me, did you go to the hospital for a full-body check-up?" Sahil asked.
"No ..."Swara responded.
"It's best for you to do so. My personal doctor and best friend, the one who attended to you is very specialized in both modern and traditional medicine. He advised that it would be better if you go to the hospital for a complete body check-up. Apart from you fainting, you could be suffering from other illness."
"Well, what happened to you?" Sahil asked. He didn't get any response from Swara so he turned to check on her at the back seat. She had gone pale and was sweating profusely: "Are you all right? Is it because of the weather? You don't look well, I'll take you to the hospital."
"No, No." Swara hurriedly objected: "I am OK." Then looking at Sahil and hesitating for a moment, she asked: "That doctor friend of yours you've been talking about, is he really a very good doctor like you say?"
Her words startled him for a moment.
"Of course, he is known all over the world. Last time, there was a patient with advanced gastric cancer, undergoing various treatments and seeing different doctors. His condition didn't seem to get any better until he met this friend of mine by coincidence. And for someone who was given a limited time to live, he is still alive and kicking today."
Swara then replied: "That ... Could you please introduce me to him?"
