Chapter 27

So, he had hurt his childhood friend who had given him encouragement at his parent's funeral? Sanskar, what have you done these years? Sanskar, three years, what have you done to her!

Sanskar ran back to "Blue Court," this place, where he had let her live. Those days, whenever he opened the door, he would see this petite figure, waiting for him. Those days, whenever he came through the door, there would be a woman smiling pleasantly and happy to take his briefcase. Those days, he would hear her tell him, "take a bath first, the bath has already been prepared. Those days ... It's all gone now!"

...

Sid and Micky walked through the door. They saw empty wine glasses scattered all over the place. They called out Sanskar's name but no response. They found him, lying wasted on the floor of his bedroom.

Micky went into the bathroom and came backed with a basin of water, he poured the cold water all over Sanskar. Sid exclaimed! "What the hell did you do that for? I'm leaving, I won't be a witness to Sanskar skinning you alive when he becomes sober from his drunkenness."

Sanskar was enjoying his dream of Swara when all of a sudden he felt cold water all over his body: "What the ...! What do you think you're doing?"

"You are here sleeping and wasting your life away." Mickey said. Kavya just booked a 5:00 flight to Canada. And the last time I checked, she didn't have any business engagements there. If you are as smart as I think you are, you should get what I'm trying to say."

Sanskar jumped from the floor, "what is the time now?"

"2:10," Sid said.

"I need to go, I need to go now!" He exclaimed

Sid and Mickey laughed as they watched him try to find his way around

.....

On the beach, Sanskar saw the shadow of a familiar figure.

Kavya had asked him how he couldn't have seen how skinny Swara had become. Now looking at her standing alone on the beach, he realized how fragile she looked, even capable of being blown away by a strong wind.

When she turned around ... Sanskar's hands and feet couldn't move. Her belly ... She's pregnant? Her skinner figure, with her protruding belly, made her look even thinner.

Looking back on that night, this woman, clinging to him, said, "Please stay. This is the last time I beg you." and he had left without hesitation.

She was pregnant at that time ... Just because of the illness, her bump wasn't so obvious.

"Can ... I should have noticed." Sanskar deeply regretted his actions. He was just about turning away to leave when a familiar figure appeared.

"Swara, go back inside, Kavya just made some of your favourite porridge just for you." Sahil said.

Sanskar's hands was fisted by his side. Why was Sahil acting so familiar with Swara? And why did Swara seem so happy to be receiving Sahil's attention. He was jealous. All of a sudden another figure joined them, it was Rajat.

Then Sanskar remembered Rajat telling him on that day of the accident to make Swara undergo a through medical examination. But he hadn't paid any attention to that, probably if he had, things wouldn't have gotten this worse.

Rajat was saying to Swara" your condition right now is very critical. Because of your pregnancy, you are not able to respond to treatment well. And the baby is also not receiving the needed nourishment and growth environment it needs. You might have to give birth to this baby earlier than the eight months agreed on. It's your decision to make."

Swara looked at Kavya and said. "I resign, I'm so tired of all this. I just want to give birth to this baby and die."

Kavya warmly embraced her and said, "Don't give up my friend, you are a lot more stronger than you think"

All this while Sanskar just didn't know what to do. He wasn't trying to be selfish but he would do anything to save Swara now, even if it means giving up this baby. Through the iron fence, Sanskar looked longingly at the woman sitting in the courtyard. Then, quietly vanished around the courtyard.
