What Sanskar was hearing was like a bomb exploding in his head...

10 days ago? That was the night of the day Swara went to "the night," the day she begged him to stay with her. His heart ached so badly. He raised his hand to his chest to try to null the pain. But why this pain? Why was he feeling this way because of Swara? She is and has always been a despicable woman in his eyes.

Kavya's eyes, always seeing through people and reading meaning into what even they refuse to see and acknowledge, quietly studied Sanskar and Kavita.

Suddenly Kavya spoke out: "But why did you try to play this trick. After all Swara has been through because of you, are you trying to erase her birthday too, she is not dead you know. She is very much alive and deserves the right to her birthday without you trying to over shadow it with yours. You are really evil"

Kavita was stunned and all colour disappeared from her face: "You Misunderstood me ..." she tried to say, but Kavya interjected her and said, "Ha-ha" I have eyes dear, and I can see clearly. Do you think I'm Sanskar whom you can deceive like someone who is blind and has no head to think for himself?"

Kavya just wanted to speak her mind and do away with all this hypocrisy that was being displayed here. Sanskar wasn't even paying attention.

Oh yes! Kavya, Kavya! Kavya should know where Swara is."

After saying all she had to say, Kavya turned to leave. But Sanskar caught up with her and demanded to know where Swara was.

"I don't know where she is and even if I did, why I would tell you, you mean jerk!"

Sanskar was furious. "If you don't tell me where Swara is right now, I promise you wouldn't be able to show your face in the entertainment industry ever again!

Kavya laughed and retorted: "that is no problem to me at all, because I intend to quit the entertainment industry anyway, so go ahead."

Sanskar was beyond furious now, he menacingly whispered into her ear," you shouldn't try my patience, I can do worse than that"

Sensing his seriousness and agitation, Kavya asked him: "When was the last time you saw Swara? And what did she tell you?"

"Swara is dying Sanskar, she has advanced stomach cancer."

What was Kavya talking about? Oh yes! He remembered Swara saying something like that. On that fateful night. But he thought that was a stunt she was pulling to get him to stay.

His deep black pupils shrunk, and his hands started to shake. His heart, something was disintegrating...

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, Swara has cancer, stomach cancer, advanced."

"Stomach? Advanced? Swara? What's Kavya talking about? Why doesn't he understand?

Kavya coldly looks at Sanskar's face filled with pain, and thought about how much he had made Swara suffer, she sneered at him, "you deserve it Sanskar, you do!"

"Swara does not eat spicy chicken, yet that night, you forced her to eat it. Do you know what it did to her stomach? And it was all your fault. She wanted to eat dinner with you, so she always waited for you to get back from work, but you always came back late on purpose. And oh, funny enough, all the times you had sex with her, didn't you realize how skinny she had become? Or because she was just a tool to satisfy your sexual desires with, so you never cared."

"You know what, I once asked Swara if she did not regret all this? And do you know what her answer was, she said never. She doesn't regret it for a second!"

"The many times she knew people were talking about her and scolding her behind her back, she didn't care about any of those things. All that she cared about was that at least she could get to be by your side every day and continue to love you, a man like you Sanskar. Believe me, you will never get anyone to love you the way Swara did."

"So cheers and congratulations Sanskar, on what you just lost." She raised her glass and then poured the wine unto the floor, put her glass down and proudly strode out of the room.

"You deserve it Sanskar"

Through the window, Kavya finally glanced back inside, and still standing at the exact spot was Sanskar, looking disgraced.
